3. What's in the Box

Upon unpacking, ensure all components are present and undamaged. The package for the EGO Power+ MST1700 typically includes:

4. Setup and Assembly

Before operating the trimmer, proper assembly is required.

4.1 Attaching the Guard Assembly

  1. With the trimmer running, press the speed selector button to cycle between speed settings (e.g., Low and High).

5.3 LINE IQ Technology

5.4 Trimming Techniques

  • Hold the trimmer firmly with both hands.
  • Maintain a balanced stance.
  • Swing the trimmer from side to side, keeping the cutting head parallel to the ground.
  • Avoid hitting hard objects like fences, walls, or rocks, as this can damage the line and the trimmer head.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your trimmer. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance.

6.1 Cleaning

  • After each use, clean the trimmer head and guard of grass clippings and debris.
  • Use a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ensure all vents are clear of obstructions to prevent overheating.

6.2 Line Replacement (POWERLOAD Technology)

The POWERLOAD system makes replacing trimmer line simple and quick.

  1. Remove the battery from the power head.
  2. Align the eyelets on the trimmer head.
  3. Insert a new length of trimmer line (recommended 0.095" diameter) through one eyelet and out the other until both ends are equal in length.
  4. Reinstall the battery.
  5. Press and hold the POWERLOAD button on the trimmer head. The trimmer line will automatically wind into the spool.
  6. Release the button once the line is fully wound or reaches the desired length.

6.3 Storage
