2. Product Overview
The HEADNMORE Parkside Performance 40V Cordless Chainsaw PPAKS 40 is a powerful and lightweight tool designed for efficient cutting tasks. It features a brushless motor for extended lifespan and reduced wear. The chainsaw is part of a kit that also includes a HEADNMORE keyring bottle opener.

3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
The device is compatible with all batteries from the PARKSIDE X 20 V Team series. A 20 V (4 Ah) battery is recommended. The chainsaw is supplied without a battery or charger.
- Ensure the chainsaw is switched off and the chain brake is engaged.
- Align the battery with the battery slot on the chainsaw.
- Slide the battery into the slot until it clicks securely into place.
- To remove, press the battery release button and slide the battery out.

3.2 Guide Bar and Chain Assembly
The chainsaw features a high-quality 35 cm guide bar with a cutting length of 28.5 cm. It comes with a durable and cut-resistant chainsaw chain.
- Place the guide bar onto the mounting studs.
- Carefully fit the chain around the sprocket and into the guide bar groove. Ensure the cutting edges are facing the correct direction.
- Engage the tool-free quick chain tensioning system to adjust the chain tension. The chain should be snug but still able to be pulled freely by hand.
- Secure the side cover.

3.3 Filling the Chain Oil Reservoir
The chainsaw has an automatic chain oil system. The oil tank volume is 190 ml. One 180 ml bottle of organic chain oil (Made in Germany) is included.
- Locate the oil reservoir cap.
- Unscrew the cap and fill the reservoir with the provided organic chain oil.
- Do not overfill.
- Securely replace the cap.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Controls and Indicators
The chainsaw features an input and control panel that displays speed levels, battery status, and smart application LEDs.

4.2 Starting and Stopping
- Ensure the battery is fully charged and correctly installed.
- Disengage the chain brake by pulling the front hand guard towards the front handle.
- Press the safety lock-off button (if present) and then squeeze the trigger switch to start the chainsaw.
- To stop, release the trigger switch. Engage the chain brake immediately after stopping.
4.3 Cutting Techniques
- Always maintain a balanced stance and firm grip.
- Start cutting with the chain at full speed.
- Avoid cutting with the tip of the guide bar to prevent kickback.
- Be mindful of falling branches and debris.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Chain Sharpening and Replacement
A sharp chain is crucial for safe and efficient operation. Refer to the chain manufacturer's instructions for sharpening. Replace the chain when it becomes dull or damaged beyond sharpening.
5.2 Guide Bar Maintenance
Regularly clean the guide bar groove to remove sawdust and debris. Flip the guide bar periodically to ensure even wear.
5.3 Cleaning and Storage
- After each use, remove the battery and clean the chainsaw thoroughly.
- Use a brush or compressed air to remove sawdust and debris from the motor housing, chain, and guide bar.
- Store the chainsaw in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children. Always use the chain guard during storage.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your chainsaw, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Chainsaw not starting: Check if the battery is charged and properly inserted. Ensure the chain brake is disengaged.
- Chain not moving: Verify the chain tension. Check for any obstructions in the guide bar or chain.
- Poor cutting performance: The chain may be dull or improperly tensioned. Sharpen or replace the chain as needed.
- Excessive vibration: Check for loose components or a damaged chain/guide bar.
