5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Preparing for Punching
- Select the appropriate punching die for your material and desired hole size.
- Ensure the material to be punched (e.g., steel, aluminum, copper plate, angle iron) is within the specified thickness range (3-8mm).
- Position the material accurately under the puncher. The tool is designed for accurate positioning without offset.

5.3 Tips for Optimal Performance
- After continuously punching 50-70 holes, allow the machine to rest for 10-15 minutes to prevent overheating and ensure longevity.
- Always ensure the material is properly supported and aligned to achieve clean, burr-free holes.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your DEFIPRO MHP-20 hydraulic hole puncher.
6.1 General Maintenance
- Bolt and Screw Checks: After every 300-500 punching operations, inspect and tighten all bolts and screws, especially those on the sealing part between the bracket and the cylinder.
- Cleaning: Keep the tool clean and free from metal shavings and debris. Use a dry cloth to wipe down the exterior.
- Hydraulic Oil: Periodically check the hydraulic oil level and replenish as needed using the provided hydraulic oil can. Refer to the maintenance section of the full manual for specific oil type and refill procedures.
- Carbon Brush Replacement: The carbon brushes are consumable parts. Replace them when they are worn down to maintain motor efficiency. Refer to the full manual for replacement instructions.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1 Punch Not Going All the Way Through
If the punch does not fully penetrate the material:
- Rotate the Over Mold: Try rotating the upper mold (die) to ensure proper alignment and engagement.
- Check Gasket: Ensure the round metal gasket is correctly installed under the lower mold. If necessary, remove it and reinstall to ensure full punching depth. Keep pushing the switch key during this process.
- Material Thickness: Verify that the material thickness is within the specified limits of the puncher.
Video 7.1: Instructions on how to ensure the punch goes all the way through the material.
7.2 Die Not Retracting / Over-pressured
If the die does not retract after punching or the system feels over-pressured:
- Relieve Pressure: Locate the pressure relief screw, typically on the bottom side of the unit. Gently loosen this screw to release pressure, allowing the die to retract. Remember to tighten the screw before subsequent use.

Figure 7.1: Location of the pressure relief screw for die retraction.
7.3 Operation in Cold Weather
If operating in colder weather, the machine may vibrate more when punching hard metal. To protect the motor housing, avoid punching in extremely cold conditions if possible. Allow the machine to warm up slightly in a moderate temperature environment before heavy use.
7.4 Motor Sounds Rough or Smells Burnt
If the motor exhibits unusual sounds or a burning smell:
- Immediately disconnect the power.
- Check for any obstructions in the punching mechanism.
- Inspect the carbon brushes for wear. Replace if necessary.
- If the issue persists, contact customer support.
