4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation

The Houdian RT338 timer requires 2 AAA batteries (included).

1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the timer.
2. Slide open the battery compartment cover.

5.2. Timer Mode (Count-up / Countdown)

In Timer Mode, the display will show "HOUR", "MIN", and "SEC".

5.2.1. Setting a Countdown Timer

1. Ensure the timer is in Timer Mode.
2. Press the [HOUR] button to set the hours.
3. Press the [MIN] button to set the minutes.
4. Press the [SEC] button to set the seconds.
5. Press the [STOP/START] button to begin the countdown.
6. To pause the countdown, press [STOP/START] again. Press it once more to resume.
7. To clear the set time, press the [CLEAR] button.
8. When the countdown reaches zero, the alarm will sound or flash (depending on your setting).

5.2.2. Using the Count-up Timer

1. Ensure the timer is in Timer Mode.
2. Press the [CLEAR] button to ensure the display shows 00:00:00.
3. Press the [STOP/START] button to begin counting up.
4. To pause the count-up, press [STOP/START] again. Press it once more to resume.
5. To reset the count-up timer to zero, press the [CLEAR] button.

5.3. Clock Mode

In Clock Mode, the timer displays the current time.

5.3.1. Setting the Clock

1. Ensure the timer is in Clock Mode.
2. Press and hold the [HOUR] button to enter time setting mode. The hour digits will flash.
3. Press [HOUR] to adjust the hour.
4. Press [MIN] to adjust the minutes.
5. Press [SEC] to adjust the seconds (or to confirm the setting and exit).
6. The clock supports a 12/24-hour system. Pressing the [HOUR] button while setting the hour will cycle through 12-hour (AM/PM) and 24-hour formats.
