4. Setup
4.1. Battery Installation
The Houdian RT338 timer requires 2 AAA batteries (included).
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the timer.
- Slide open the battery compartment cover.

In Timer Mode, the display will show "HOUR", "MIN", and "SEC".
5.2.1. Setting a Countdown Timer
- Ensure the timer is in Timer Mode.
- Press the [HOUR] button to set the hours.
- Press the [MIN] button to set the minutes.
- Press the [SEC] button to set the seconds.
- Press the [STOP/START] button to begin the countdown.
- To pause the countdown, press [STOP/START] again. Press it once more to resume.
- To clear the set time, press the [CLEAR] button.
- When the countdown reaches zero, the alarm will sound or flash (depending on your setting).
5.2.2. Using the Count-up Timer
- Ensure the timer is in Timer Mode.
- Press the [CLEAR] button to ensure the display shows 00:00:00.

5.3. Clock Mode
In Clock Mode, the timer displays the current time.
5.3.1. Setting the Clock
- Ensure the timer is in Clock Mode.
- Press and hold the [HOUR] button to enter time setting mode. The hour digits will flash.
- Press [HOUR] to adjust the hour.
- Press [MIN] to adjust the minutes.
- Press [SEC] to adjust the seconds (or to confirm the setting and exit).
- The clock supports a 12/24-hour system. Pressing the [HOUR] button while setting the hour will cycle through 12-hour (AM/PM) and 24-hour formats.
