2. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of your water heater. Refer to the included installation manual for detailed instructions and diagrams. Ensure all connections are secure and comply with local plumbing and electrical codes.

2.1 Mounting

The water heater comes with heavy-duty mounting brackets. Securely attach the unit to a stable surface, ensuring it is level and accessible for maintenance.

2.2 Plumbing Connections

The unit features G1/2 inch plumbing fittings for cold water inlet (blue) and hot water outlet (red). Connect your water supply lines accordingly. It is recommended to use a mixing valve to prevent scalding.

2.3 Electrical Connections

The water heater supports both 12V DC and 120V AC power. It includes separate wiring for each. The unit is designed to automatically switch to 120V AC when detected, prioritizing faster heating. Ensure correct polarity for DC connections and proper grounding for AC connections.

3. Operating Instructions

Once installed and filled with water, the water heater is ready for operation. Use the remote controller to manage settings.

3.1 Powering On/Off

Use the dedicated power button on the remote controller to turn the unit on or off. A red indicator light on the controller signifies operation.

3.2 Setting Temperature

The remote controller allows you to set the desired water temperature. The temperature range for this thermostat is typically 86°F (30°C) to 167°F (75°C). Adjust the set point using the up/down buttons. The display shows both the set temperature and the actual water temperature.

3.3 Dual Power Operation

The water heater automatically detects and switches between 12V DC and 120V AC power sources. When 120V AC is available, it will prioritize this for faster heating (1500W). When only 12V DC is available, it will operate at 200W. Heating time will be longer on 12V DC (approximately 2 hours for a full tank from cold), but the unit's insulation helps maintain heat efficiently.

3.4 Timer Function

The remote controller may include a timer function, allowing you to schedule when the water heater turns on and off. This can be used to pre-heat water before use or to conserve energy during off-peak hours.

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your water heater.

4.1 Pressure Relief Valve

The water heater is equipped with a pressure relief valve. It is normal for this valve to drip occasionally, as it releases excess pressure built up during heating. If dripping becomes excessive or continuous, it may indicate a valve failure, and replacement is necessary. Ensure the drain line from the pressure relief valve is routed safely to an outdoor area or a suitable drain.

4.2 Draining the Tank

If the unit will be stored in an area where temperatures may drop below freezing, or if it will not be used for an extended period, drain the tank completely to prevent damage from freezing or stagnant water. Consult the installation manual for specific draining procedures.

4.3 Cleaning

Periodically inspect the exterior of the unit for any dirt or debris and clean with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your water heater, refer to the following basic troubleshooting steps. For more complex problems, consult a qualified technician or contact customer support.

  • No Hot Water: Check power connections (12V DC and 120V AC). Ensure the unit is turned on and the thermostat is set to a desired temperature. Verify water supply is connected and turned on.
  • Water Not Hot Enough: Increase the thermostat setting. Allow sufficient time for heating, especially when operating on 12V DC.
  • Excessive Dripping from Pressure Relief Valve: A small amount of dripping is normal. If dripping is constant or heavy, the pressure relief valve may need inspection or replacement.
  • Error Codes on Remote Controller: Refer to the detailed user manual for specific error code interpretations and solutions.
