1. Safety Information
Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before operating this post hole digger. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear appropriate safety gear, including safety glasses, hearing protection, heavy-duty gloves, and sturdy footwear.
- Fuel Handling: Use a 25:1 gasoline to two-stroke oil mixture. Mix fuel in a well-ventilated area away from ignition sources. Do not smoke while handling fuel. Store fuel in approved containers.
- Operation Area: Ensure the work area is clear of bystanders, especially children and pets. Maintain a firm grip on the handles during operation.
- Machine Control: Be prepared for sudden jolts if the auger encounters obstacles. If the auger binds, release the throttle immediately.
- Maintenance: Perform all maintenance tasks with the engine off and cool. Disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any service.

3. Assembly Instructions
Follow these steps to assemble the auger bit to the post hole digger engine unit.
- Connect the Drive Shaft: Align the auger bit's drive shaft with the output shaft of the engine unit. Insert the auger bit into the engine's output shaft.
- Insert the Bolt: Once aligned, insert the retaining bolt through the aligned holes of the auger bit shaft and the engine's output shaft.
- Secure with Pin: Secure the retaining bolt with the provided R-clip or cotter pin to prevent it from disengaging during operation. Ensure the pin is fully seated.
- Attach Extension Bar (Optional): If additional depth is required, attach the extension bar between the engine unit and the auger bit using the same bolt and pin method.

4. Operation
4.1 Fuel Mixture
This is a 2-stroke engine and requires a specific fuel mixture. Mix unleaded gasoline with 2-stroke engine oil at a ratio of 25:1 (25 parts gasoline to 1 part oil). Use the provided mixing bottle for accurate measurement. Do not use pure gasoline or 4-stroke oil.
4.2 Starting the Engine
Follow these steps to start the post hole digger:
- Turn on the Switch: Locate the On/Off switch on the handle and set it to the 'ON' position.
- Prime the Carburetor: Press the oil bubble (primer bulb) several times until fuel is visible in the fuel line and the bulb is firm. This ensures fuel is supplied to the carburetor.
- Engage Choke (Cold Start): If the engine is cold, close the damper switch (choke lever).
- Pull Starter: With a firm grip on the handles, pull the start handle 5-8 times quickly and smoothly until ignition is heard or the engine attempts to start. Do not pull slowly.
- Open Choke: Once the engine starts or attempts to start, open the damper switch (choke lever) to the 'RUN' position.
- Restart if Necessary: If the engine does not start, repeat steps 2-5. If the engine is warm, you may not need to use the choke.

4.3 Digging Procedure
Once the engine is running, follow these guidelines for effective digging:
- Positioning: Place the auger bit on the desired digging spot. Ensure a stable stance and firm grip on both handles.
- Throttle Control: Gradually apply throttle to engage the auger. Allow the auger to dig into the soil under its own weight. Do not force it.
- Clearing Soil: Periodically lift the auger slightly to clear loose soil from the hole and the auger flights. This prevents binding and improves digging efficiency.
- Obstacles: If the auger encounters a rock or root and binds, immediately release the throttle. Attempt to clear the obstruction or reposition the auger.
- Depth: Use the extension rod for deeper holes as needed.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your post hole digger.
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the auger bit and engine unit to remove soil, debris, and grass. Use a brush and damp cloth. Ensure cooling fins are clear for proper heat dissipation.
- Fuel System: Drain the fuel tank if storing for extended periods (over 30 days) to prevent fuel degradation. Run the engine until it stops from lack of fuel.
- Spark Plug: Periodically inspect the spark plug for wear and carbon buildup. Clean or replace as necessary. Refer to the engine manual for specific spark plug type and gap.
- Air Filter: Check and clean the air filter regularly, especially in dusty conditions. A clogged air filter can reduce engine performance.
- Lubrication: Inspect the gearbox for any signs of leakage. Consult the engine manual for gearbox lubrication requirements.

6. Troubleshooting
Refer to this section for common issues and their solutions.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine does not start | No fuel, incorrect fuel mixture, spark plug issue, choke setting | Check fuel level and mixture. Ensure spark plug is clean and connected. Verify choke is set correctly for starting. |
| Engine runs poorly or stalls | Clogged air filter, old fuel, spark plug issue, carburetor adjustment | Clean air filter. Use fresh fuel. Inspect/replace spark plug. Consult service center for carburetor adjustment. |
| Auger binds during digging | Obstruction (rock, root), too much downward pressure | Release throttle immediately. Clear obstruction. Reduce downward pressure and allow auger to work naturally. |
