3. Product Overview

  1. Antenna: For transmitting and receiving signals.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

To install the battery:

  1. Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the walkie talkie.
  2. Slide the battery pack upwards until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, press the release latch (if present) and slide the battery downwards.

4.2 Charging the Battery

The Pofung PT88E features a 1500mAh Li-ion battery and offers two charging methods:

  • Using the Charging Base: Place the walkie talkie (with battery installed) into the charging base. Ensure the contacts align. The LED on the base will indicate charging status.
  • Direct Type-C Charging: Connect a USB Type-C cable directly to the port on the battery pack. This allows for convenient charging without the base.

A full charge typically takes several hours. The battery provides approximately 24-36 hours of standby time and over 12 hours of working time.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control

To power on the walkie talkie, rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise. You will hear a voice prompt indicating the device is on and the current channel. Continue rotating clockwise to increase the volume. To power off, rotate the knob counter-clockwise until it clicks.

5.2 Channel Selection

The Pofung PT88E has 16 pre-programmed PMR446 channels. To select a channel, rotate the Encoder knob. A voice prompt will announce the selected channel number (in English).

5.3 Transmitting and Receiving

  • To Transmit: Press and hold the PTT (Push-to-Talk) button on the side of the walkie talkie. Speak clearly into the microphone. The LED indicator will glow red. Release the PTT button when you finish speaking.
  • To Receive: Ensure the PTT button is not pressed. The LED indicator will glow green when a signal is being received on your selected channel.

5.4 VOX Function (Hands-Free Communication)

The VOX (Voice Operated Exchange) function allows for hands-free transmission. When VOX is enabled, the walkie talkie will automatically transmit when it detects your voice, without needing to press the PTT button. This function is particularly useful when combined with an earpiece.

5.5 LED Flashlight

The Pofung PT88E includes a built-in LED flashlight located at the top of the unit. This can be activated via one of the programmable side keys (Side Key 1 or Side Key 2), providing illumination in low-light conditions.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

Clean the walkie talkie surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the device is dry before use.

7.2 Battery Care

  • Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
  • Store the battery in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Do not expose the battery to extreme temperatures.
  • If the battery is not used for an extended period, charge it periodically to maintain its lifespan.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the battery is correctly installed and charged. Rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise to turn on.
  • Cannot Transmit or Receive: Verify that both walkie talkies are on the same channel. Check battery level. Ensure PTT button is pressed when transmitting.
  • Poor Audio Quality: Check volume level. Ensure the antenna is securely attached. Move to an area with fewer obstructions.
  • Limited Range: Range is affected by terrain, buildings, and other obstructions. For optimal range, use in open areas.
