1. Introduction

The kactoily Smart Aquarium Water Monitor is a multi-parameter testing device designed for real-time monitoring of water quality in freshwater and saltwater aquariums. This device provides continuous data for pH, Salinity, Temperature, TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), EC (Electrical Conductivity), and ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential), enabling users to maintain optimal aquatic environments. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your monitor.

3. Setup

3.1 Initial Probe Preparation

Before first use, or if white crystals are observed around the probe, rinse the probe thoroughly under tap water. The protective cap contains potassium chloride solution to keep the probe active, and crystallization is normal. Ensure the probe is clean before installation.

3.2 Probe Installation

The monitor probe offers three versatile installation methods to suit various aquarium setups:

1. Fixed-Mount: Use the acrylic stand and slide rails to securely attach the probe to the rim of your aquarium.
2. Suction Cup Attachment: Utilize the provided suction cup bracket to affix the probe to the inside glass of your tank.
3. Free-Floating Design: Attach the floating ring to the probe, allowing it to float freely on the water surface.

Ensure the probe is submerged to the 'Max Level' line but not in direct contact with air bubbles from filters or air stones, as this can affect readings. The perforated cover can be used to protect the sensor tips.

3.3 App Connection

Download the kactoily app from your device's app store. Follow the in-app instructions to connect your Smart Aquarium Water Monitor. This will enable real-time monitoring, alert settings, and data history access.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Real-Time Monitoring

Once connected to the app, the monitor will continuously measure and display the following parameters:

• pH
• Salinity (%)
• Temperature (°C/°F)
• TDS (ppm)
• EC (uS/cm)
• ORP (mV)
• Specific Gravity (SG)

The display unit provides a quick overview, while the app offers detailed readings and historical data.

4.2 Custom Alerts

Within the app, you can set custom ranges for each monitored parameter. If a parameter falls outside your defined range, the system will send instant SMS or app alerts to notify you of critical changes in your aquarium's water quality.

5. Calibration

5.1 pH Calibration

For accurate pH readings, perform a triple-point calibration using the provided pH 4.01, 6.86, and 9.18 calibration powders. Follow the specific instructions in the app or the included Water Quality Guidebook for the calibration process. This ensures industry-leading accuracy of ±0.1 pH.

5.2 EC Calibration

EC calibration solutions are not included due to specialized shipping regulations. Please acquire appropriate EC calibration solutions separately if EC calibration is required.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Probe Cleaning

To maintain optimal performance and accuracy, rinse the titanium-coated electrodes under tap water monthly. This prevents buildup and ensures stable data readings.

6.2 Addressing Crystallization

If white crystallized objects appear around the probe, this is typically potassium chloride from the protective solution evaporating. Simply rinse the probe with tap water to remove these crystals.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Inaccurate Readings

• Calibration: Ensure the device has been calibrated recently according to the instructions in Section 5.
• Probe Cleanliness: Check if the probe is clean and free from algae or mineral buildup. Refer to Section 6.1 for cleaning instructions.
• Probe Placement: Verify the probe is fully submerged and not affected by air bubbles or strong currents. Refer to Section 3.2.

7.2 Sensor Cracked

If the sensor is cracked, please discontinue use and contact kactoily customer support for assistance. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.

7.3 Reconnecting Display and Probe

If the display and probe lose connection, perform a factory reset on the monitor. Then, power off the probe, wait a few seconds, and power it back on to re-establish the connection.
