3. Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety precautions before proceeding with installation.
- Adult Supervision: This product contains small parts and is intended for users 14 years and older. Adult supervision is recommended during installation.
- Tools: Use appropriate tools for disassembly and assembly to prevent damage to components or injury.
- Small Parts: Keep small parts away from children and pets to prevent choking hazards.
- Static Electricity: Handle electronic components with care to avoid damage from static discharge.
- Disassembly: Refer to your RC car's original manual for specific disassembly instructions if needed.
4. Installation Guide
Follow these steps carefully to install the aluminum steering group upgrade kit onto your LOSI 1/24 Micro-B 2WD Buggy.
4.1. Preparation
- Power off your RC car and disconnect the battery.
- Place the RC car on a clean, flat surface.
- Gather necessary tools, such as a small Phillips head screwdriver and hex wrenches (not included).
4.2. Removing the Stock Steering Group
- Carefully locate the existing steering group assembly on your LOSI 1/24 Micro-B. This typically involves the steering servo horn, linkage, and the plastic steering rack.
- Using appropriate tools, unscrew and detach the steering linkage from the servo horn and the stock steering rack.
- Remove any screws securing the stock plastic steering rack to the chassis. Keep these screws organized as some may be reused.
- Gently remove the entire stock steering group assembly.
4.3. Assembling the Aluminum Steering Group
- Take the aluminum steering arm. Note the threaded holes for mounting.
- Insert the four ball bearings into the designated slots within the two aluminum bearing cups. Ensure they fit snugly.
- Attach the bearing cups to the aluminum steering arm using the provided screws (if separate) or by utilizing the pre-installed threaded posts on the steering arm. Ensure the bearings are properly seated and allow for smooth movement. Do not overtighten.

4.4. Installing the New Steering Group
- Position the assembled aluminum steering group onto the chassis where the original steering rack was located.
- Secure the aluminum steering group to the chassis using the screws removed in step 4.2.3, or new screws if provided. Ensure it is firmly attached but still allows for free movement of the steering arm.
- Reconnect the steering linkage from the servo horn to the appropriate attachment point on the new aluminum steering arm.
- Verify that the steering moves freely from left to right without binding.
4.5. Post-Installation Check
- Reconnect the battery and power on your RC car.
- Test the steering function by turning the wheels left and right using your transmitter.
- Adjust steering trim on your transmitter if the wheels are not centered.
- Perform a slow test drive to ensure proper operation before full-speed use.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your aluminum steering group.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the steering group to remove dirt, dust, and debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect all screws and connections for tightness. Aluminum parts are durable, but impacts can cause loosening.
- Bearing Check: Check the ball bearings for smooth operation. If they feel gritty or bind, they may need cleaning or replacement.
- Lubrication: Lightly lubricate pivot points with a small amount of RC-safe grease or oil if movement becomes stiff. Avoid over-lubrication.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Steering feels stiff or binds | Overtightened screws, debris in bearings, misaligned components. | Loosen screws slightly, clean bearings, re-check alignment of steering arm and linkage. |
| Excessive play in steering | Loose screws, worn bearings, damaged linkage. | Tighten all screws, inspect and replace worn bearings, check steering linkage for damage. |
| Steering not centered | Servo trim incorrect, linkage length incorrect. | Adjust steering trim on your transmitter. If persistent, check servo horn position and linkage length. |
