4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to prepare your sump pump for operation:

  1. Attach Discharge Adapters: Select the appropriate adapter (GHT 3/4" or NPT 1") for your discharge hose. The check valve should be installed into the joint by rotating the adapter into the pump thread. For high capacity pumping, use the G 1-1/4" discharge port.
  2. Install Vertical Float Switch: The vertical float switch can be installed in two ways:
    • Fixed on the pump: Use the provided mounting bracket and screws to attach the float switch directly to the pump body. This is suitable for smaller pits.
    • Fixed on a pipe: Use the stainless steel hose clamp and pipe mounting bracket to secure the float switch to a vertical pipe in the sump pit. This allows for more flexible activation level adjustment.

    Ensure the float switch can move freely without obstruction to prevent continuous operation or failure to activate.

  3. Attach Rope: Securely tie the provided rope to the pump handle. This rope is used for safely lowering and retrieving the pump from the water, preventing damage to the power cord.

5. Operating Instructions

The pump offers two operating modes:

  • Automatic Operation: When the vertical float switch is installed, the pump will automatically turn on when the water level reaches approximately 4 inches and turn off when the water level drops to about 1.6 inches. The maximum submersion depth for automatic operation is 8 feet.
  • Manual Operation: For continuous pumping or to achieve a lower residual water level (down to 0.4 inches), you can operate the pump manually by plugging and unplugging the power cord. The maximum submersion depth for manual operation is 13 feet. Ensure the pump does not run dry for extended periods in manual mode.

The pump can handle solids up to 1/5 inch in diameter. It is suitable for clean water drainage.

  • Pump runs continuously: In automatic mode, check if the float switch is stuck in the 'on' position or if the water level is consistently above the 'off' threshold.
