4. Setup Guide
4.1 Initial Placement
For optimal Wi-Fi coverage, place the router in a central location in your home, away from obstructions like thick walls, large metal objects, and devices that emit strong electromagnetic interference (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones).
4.2 Connecting Your Router
- Power Off: Disconnect power from your modem and router (if applicable).
- Connect WAN Port: Connect one end of the provided RJ-45 Ethernet cable to the WAN port (blue) on your WAVLINK router and the other end to your modem's Ethernet port.
- Connect Power: Connect the power adapter to the router's power port and plug it into an electrical outlet.
- Power On: Power on your modem first, wait for it to fully boot up (usually indicated by stable lights), then power on your WAVLINK router.
4.3 First-Time Setup via Web Interface
- Connect to Router: Connect your computer or mobile device to the router's default Wi-Fi network (SSID and password are usually printed on a label on the bottom of the router) or via an Ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports.
- Access Web Interface: Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (e.g.,
192.168.1.1orrouter.wavlink.com) into the address bar. Refer to the Quick Installation Guide for the exact default IP and login credentials. - Login: Enter the default username and password (usually
adminfor both). - Follow Setup Wizard: The router's web interface will guide you through the initial setup process, including changing the default Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password, and setting up your internet connection type.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Connecting Devices
You can connect devices to your WAVLINK AC3200 router wirelessly or via Ethernet cables.
- Wireless Connection: On your device, search for available Wi-Fi networks, select your router's SSID, and enter the Wi-Fi password.
- Wired Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from your device's Ethernet port to any of the router's LAN ports.
5.2 Managing Wi-Fi Networks
The AC3200 router operates on dual bands: 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The 2.4GHz band offers wider coverage, while the 5GHz band provides faster speeds with less interference, ideal for streaming and gaming.

Figure 5.1: Dual-Band Performance. This image visually represents the speed capabilities of the 2.4GHz band (1000 Mbps, suitable for email, browsing) and the 5GHz band (2167 Mbps, ideal for 4K/8K streaming and gaming).
You can manage your Wi-Fi settings, including SSIDs, passwords, and security protocols, through the router's web interface.
6. Advanced Features
6.1 Parental Controls
The router includes advanced parental control features, allowing you to manage internet access for specific devices or users. You can set time limits, block inappropriate content, and create custom profiles to ensure a safe online environment for your family.

Figure 6.1: Parental Control Feature. This image depicts a family using various devices, with an overlay indicating the parental control feature, allowing users to set internet access rules.
6.2 Guest Wi-Fi
Create a separate Wi-Fi network for guests to provide internet access without sharing your main network password or allowing access to your private network resources. Guest networks can be configured with their own SSID, password, and access restrictions.
6.3 Quality of Service (QoS)
QoS allows you to prioritize network traffic for specific applications or devices. This ensures that critical activities like online gaming or video conferencing receive sufficient bandwidth, reducing lag and buffering.
6.4 LCD Interface and Touch Keys
The router's LCD display provides quick access to network status and settings. The three touch keys allow you to navigate through different information screens and perform basic operations directly on the device without needing to access the web interface.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Firmware Updates
Regularly check for and install firmware updates to ensure your router has the latest features, security patches, and performance improvements. Firmware updates can typically be performed through the router's web interface.
7.2 Regular Cleaning
Keep the router clean and free from dust to ensure proper ventilation and prevent overheating. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
7.3 Resetting the Router
If you encounter persistent issues or forget your login credentials, you can perform a factory reset. Locate the reset button on the rear panel (often a small pinhole) and press and hold it for approximately 10 seconds using a paperclip until the router restarts. This will restore all settings to their factory defaults.
8. Troubleshooting
8.1 No Internet Connection
- Ensure all cables are securely connected to the correct ports.
- Restart your modem and router by unplugging them from power for 30 seconds and then plugging them back in. Power on the modem first, then the router.
- Verify your internet service provider (ISP) connection is active.
- Check the WAN status lights on the router.
8.2 Slow Wi-Fi Speed
- Ensure the router is placed in a central location, away from interference sources.
- Connect to the 5GHz band for faster speeds if your device supports it.
- Reduce the number of active devices or bandwidth-intensive applications.
- Check for firmware updates.
8.3 Cannot Access Router Web Interface
- Ensure your device is connected to the router's network (wired or wireless).
- Verify you are using the correct IP address or domain name (e.g.,
192.168.1.1). - Clear your browser's cache or try a different browser.
- If you forgot the password, perform a factory reset (see Section 7.3).
