6. Maintenance
Daily Cleaning:
- Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
- Remove and empty the K-cup holder or ground coffee filter basket after each use. Rinse them under running water.
- Remove and empty the drip tray. Wash it with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
Self-Cleaning Function:
The coffee maker features a self-cleaning function to help prevent mineral buildup. It is recommended to use this function regularly, especially if you have hard water.
- Ensure the brewing chamber is empty (no K-cup or ground coffee).
- Fill the water reservoir with clean water up to the 14oz MAX line.
- Place an empty mug or container on the drip tray.
- Press and hold both the "CAPSULE" and "GROUND" buttons simultaneously for approximately 3 seconds until the indicator lights begin to blink. This initiates the self-cleaning cycle.
- The coffee maker will run water through its system. Once the cycle is complete, the lights will stop blinking.
- Discard the water from the mug/container.
Descaling (Deep Cleaning):
Over time, mineral deposits (scale) can build up in your coffee maker, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your coffee maker every 3-6 months, or more frequently if you notice slower brewing or reduced coffee temperature.
- Prepare a descaling solution: Mix white vinegar and water in a 1:1 ratio. For example, use 7oz vinegar and 7oz water for a 14oz fill.
- Pour the descaling solution into the water reservoir.
- Place a large empty mug or container on the drip tray.
- Run a full brew cycle by pressing either the "CAPSULE" or "GROUND" button. Discard the solution.
- Repeat the brewing process with the remaining descaling solution if necessary, or let it sit for 30 minutes before running another cycle.
- After descaling, run at least two full cycles with fresh, clean water to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Coffee maker does not turn on. | Not plugged in; power outlet issue. | Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet. Try a different outlet. |
| Coffee is not brewing or only a small amount is dispensed. | Insufficient water in reservoir; clogged needle; mineral buildup. | Ensure water reservoir is filled to desired level. Clean the needle (refer to maintenance). Perform a descaling cycle. |
| Coffee tastes weak or watery. | Too much water for coffee amount; coffee grind too coarse; old coffee. | Use less water or more coffee. Ensure coffee is fresh and ground appropriately for drip brewing. |
| Coffee maker flashes blue and red lights. | Indicates a need for descaling or an internal error. | Perform a descaling cycle as described in the Maintenance section. If the issue persists, contact customer support. |
| Difficulty removing K-cup or ground coffee basket after brewing. | Heat expansion; no specific tab for removal. | Allow the unit to cool slightly before attempting removal. Use a heat-resistant glove or a utensil to carefully lift the basket. |
| Water spills when filling reservoir. | Narrow opening; awkward pouring angle. | Use a measuring cup with a spout for easier pouring. Pour slowly and carefully. |
