Setup and Initial Use
Unpacking and Inspection
Upon receiving your YINMIK Water Quality Tester, carefully remove it from its packaging. Inspect the device for any visible damage. Ensure all components, including the meter and protective cap, are present.
Battery Installation
The device typically comes with batteries pre-installed. If not, locate the battery compartment, usually on the back or top of the device, and insert the required batteries, observing polarity markings.
First Use
- Remove the protective cap from the electrode.
- Press the ON/OFF button to power on the meter.
- The display will illuminate, showing current readings or a standby screen.
Operating Instructions
Taking a Measurement
- Ensure the meter is clean and dry before use.
- Immerse the electrode into the water sample up to the immersion line. Do not immerse the entire meter.
- Gently stir the meter to remove any air bubbles.
- Wait for the reading to stabilize on the display. The horizontal display shows TDS/EC and temperature simultaneously.
- Press the HOLD/TEMP button to freeze the reading on the display for easier recording. Press again to release.
- Remove the meter from the water and wipe the electrode clean with a soft cloth.

Changing Measurement Modes
The YINMIK YK-E01 supports 6 different measurement modes. To cycle through these modes:
- Press the MODE/CAL button repeatedly to switch between TDS (PPM 500), TDS (PPM 700), Conductivity (µS/cm), Conductivity (mS/cm), Temperature (°C), and Temperature (°F).
- Select the appropriate mode based on your testing requirements.

Understanding Readings
- TDS (Total Dissolved Solids): Measured in parts per million (PPM). Indicates the total concentration of dissolved substances in water.
- PPM 500 mode: Primarily for household drinking water.
- PPM 700 mode: For groundwater, lake water, streams, well water, and boiler water.
- EC (Electrical Conductivity): Measured in microSiemens per centimeter (µS/cm) or milliSiemens per centimeter (mS/cm). Indicates the ability of water to conduct electricity, which is directly related to the concentration of dissolved ions.
- Temperature: Measured in degrees Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F).

Maintenance
Cleaning the Electrode
After each use, rinse the electrode thoroughly with distilled or deionized water to prevent contamination and residue buildup. Gently wipe the electrode dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
Storage
Always replace the protective cap on the electrode when the meter is not in use. Store the meter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep out of reach of children.
Battery Replacement
If the display becomes dim or the meter does not power on, it may be time to replace the batteries. Refer to the battery compartment for the correct battery type and polarity. Dispose of old batteries responsibly.
