3. Product Overview
3.1 Key Features and Welding Modes
The haxiaoer 160A MIG Welder supports four primary welding processes:
- Gas MIG Welding: Uses shielding gas (e.g., Argon/CO2 mix) for clean welds on various metals.
- Gasless Flux Core Welding: Uses flux-cored wire that produces its own shielding gas, ideal for outdoor use or without gas cylinders.
- Lift TIG Welding: Provides precise control for thin materials and high-quality welds (TIG torch not included).
- Stick (MMA) Welding: Uses coated electrodes for general-purpose welding on thicker materials.

4. Setup
4.1 Power Connection
The haxiaoer 160A MIG Welder supports both 110V and 220V input voltages. Ensure the correct power cord is used and connected to a suitable power outlet with adequate circuit protection.
- Verify the input voltage switch (if present) matches your power supply.
- Connect the power plug securely to a grounded electrical outlet.
4.2 Wire Installation (MIG/Flux Core)
Proper wire installation is crucial for consistent feeding and welding performance.

Figure 4.1: Illustration of the precision wire feed system and wire spool installation.
- Open the wire feed compartment.
- Place the wire spool onto the spindle, ensuring it rotates freely.
- Thread the wire through the guide tube and into the drive rollers.
- Close the drive roller tension arm and adjust the tension. The wire should feed smoothly without slipping or crushing.
- Feed the wire through the MIG torch liner until it exits the contact tip.
- Trim the wire to approximately 1/2 inch (12mm) stick-out.
4.3 Gas Connection (Gas MIG)
For Gas MIG welding, connect your shielding gas cylinder:
- Secure the gas cylinder to a cylinder cart or stable support.
- Attach the gas regulator to the cylinder valve.
- Connect the gas hose from the regulator to the gas inlet on the back of the welder.
- Open the cylinder valve slowly and set the gas flow rate on the regulator (typically 10-20 CFH, consult welding charts for specific applications).
4.4 Ground Clamp and Electrode Holder Connection
- Connect the ground clamp cable to the appropriate terminal on the welder (usually the negative terminal for MIG/Flux Core, check manual for TIG/Stick polarity).
- Connect the electrode holder cable (for Stick welding) or TIG torch cable (for Lift TIG) to its respective terminal.
- Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 General Operation Steps
- Ensure all safety gear is worn (helmet, gloves, protective clothing).
- Turn on the welder.
- Select the desired welding mode (MIG, MMA, Lift TIG) using the mode selector.
- Adjust welding parameters (current, voltage, wire speed) according to the material thickness and welding process. Refer to welding charts for guidance.
- Attach the ground clamp securely to the workpiece, ensuring good electrical contact.
- Begin welding.
5.2 MIG/Flux Core Welding
- Select MIG mode. For Gas MIG, ensure gas flow is set. For Flux Core, no gas is needed.
- Set wire speed and voltage. The digital display will show the settings.
- Position the MIG torch at the start of the weld joint, maintaining the correct stick-out.
- Press the trigger to initiate the arc and begin welding. Maintain a consistent travel speed and torch angle.
5.3 Lift TIG Welding
- Select Lift TIG mode. Connect a TIG torch (not included) and gas if required.
- Set the desired amperage.
- Touch the tungsten electrode to the workpiece, then lift it slightly to initiate the arc.
- Maintain a consistent arc length and feed filler rod manually if needed.
5.4 Stick (MMA) Welding
- Select MMA mode. Insert the appropriate electrode into the electrode holder.
- Set the desired amperage based on the electrode type and diameter.
- Strike the electrode against the workpiece to initiate the arc, then maintain a consistent arc length and travel speed.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your welding machine.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the machine's exterior with a dry cloth. Use compressed air to blow out dust and debris from inside the machine, especially from cooling vents. Ensure the power is disconnected before cleaning.
- Wire Feed System: Inspect the drive rollers for wear and cleanliness. Clean any debris or wire shavings. Ensure the wire liner is free from kinks or blockages.
- Torch and Cables: Check the MIG torch, ground clamp, and electrode holder cables for damage, cuts, or loose connections. Replace damaged components immediately.
- Contact Tips and Nozzles: Replace worn contact tips and clean or replace clogged nozzles on the MIG torch.
- Gas System (if applicable): Check gas hoses and connections for leaks.
