GMVOX Back Paddles for PS5 Controller Instruction Manual

Introduction

The GMVOX Back Paddles are designed to enhance your gaming experience on PS5 consoles, PC, Mac, and Android TV platforms. This accessory provides 4 programmable back buttons, supporting Turbo, Macro, and Key Swap functions for customized control. It connects via a wired USB cable, ensuring a stable connection and also supporting controller charging.

Important Note Before Use

Before using the GMVOX Back Paddles, it is crucial to adjust your PS5 system settings to ensure proper functionality. Navigate to the PS5 System Settings Interface and change the Communication Method to "Use USB Cable". Failure to do so will prevent the paddles from working.

• Go to Settings

• Under Communication Method, select "Use USB Cable"

Note: This accessory does not support microphone function when connected.

Setup and Installation

The GMVOX Back Paddles are designed for plug-and-play convenience, requiring no additional drivers. Follow these steps for initial setup:

1. Ensure Controller is Connected and Operational: Verify your PS5 controller is connected to the console and functioning correctly.
2. Select USB Communication Method: As detailed in the "Important Note Before Use" section, go to PS5 Settings > Accessibility > Controller (General) > Communication Method and select "Use USB Cable".
3. Turn Off Controller: Press and hold the PS button on your controller until the menu appears, then select "Turn Off" for the controller. The indicator light on the controller should turn off.
4. Attach Back Paddles: Carefully insert the GMVOX Back Paddles onto your PS5 controller.

5. Connect USB Cable: Connect the custom 118-inch USB data cable from the back paddles to your PS5 console.

6. Verify Connection: Check if the indicator light on the back paddles is steady on.
7. Turn On Controller: Press the PS button on your controller to turn it on. The paddles should now be successfully connected and ready for use.

Operating Instructions

1. Macro Programming (4 Programmable Back Buttons)

The back paddles feature 4 programmable buttons (M1/M2/M3/M4). Each back button can record up to 25 controller button presses, with each press recorded for no longer than 5 seconds. This allows for complex combo sequences.

1. Enter Programming Mode: Press the Macro button on the back paddles. The indicator light will blink slowly, indicating entry into programming mode.
2. Record Key Sequence: Press the desired sequence of controller buttons you wish to map (e.g., X, O, Square, Triangle).
3. Assign to Back Button: Press the specific back button (M1, M2, M3, or M4) you want to assign the recorded sequence to. The indicator light will become steady, confirming successful programming.

2. Turbo Function

The Turbo function allows for rapid-fire input, supporting both semi-automatic and fully-automatic modes. The output speed is 8Hz.

1. Semi-Automatic Turbo: Press the Turbo button and the desired controller button (e.g., R2) simultaneously for the first time. The indicator light will blink when the button is held, providing semi-automatic rapid fire.
2. Fully-Automatic Turbo: Press the Turbo button and the desired controller button (e.g., R2) simultaneously for the second time. The indicator light will remain steady, and the button will continuously activate without needing to be held.
3. Cancel Turbo: Press the Turbo button and the desired controller button (e.g., R2) simultaneously for the third time. The indicator light will turn off, canceling the Turbo function for that button.

3. Key Swap Function

The Key Swap function allows you to exchange the functions of two controller buttons. This only supports swapping functions between controller buttons, not with the back paddles.

1. Enter Swap Mode: Press the A/B button on the back paddles. The indicator light will blink slowly, indicating entry into swap mode.
2. Select Buttons to Swap: Press the first controller button you wish to swap (e.g., X button), then press the second controller button you wish to swap (e.g., O button).
3. Exit Swap Mode: Press the A/B button again to exit swap mode. The indicator light will become steady, and the functions of the two selected buttons will now be exchanged.

Troubleshooting

• Paddles Not Working:

  Ensure the PS5 communication method is set to "Use USB Cable" (Settings > Accessibility > Controller (General) > Communication Method). Also, verify the controller was turned off before attaching the paddles and connecting the USB cable.

• Microphone Not Functioning:

  The GMVOX Back Paddles do not support microphone functionality when connected. This is a design limitation of the product.

• Programming Issues:

  If programming is unsuccessful, ensure the indicator light is blinking slowly when entering programming mode. After recording, press the target back button firmly until the indicator light becomes steady.
• Turbo Function Not Activating:

  Confirm you are pressing the Turbo button simultaneously with the desired controller button. For semi-auto, the light should blink when held. For full-auto, the light should be steady. If not, try re-activating the turbo function.

• Key Swap Not Working:

  Ensure the indicator light is blinking slowly when entering swap mode. Press the two desired controller buttons, then press the A/B button again to exit. Only controller buttons can be swapped, not back paddle buttons.

Maintenance

• Keep the device clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
• Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or humidity.
• Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself, as this may void any warranty.
• Store the back paddles and USB cable in a safe place when not in use to prevent damage.
