  3. Compare dimensions: Ensure the measurements of your old parts match the dimensions provided in Figure 2 and the product specifications.

Installation Instructions

Before beginning, ensure your grill is completely cool and disconnected from its gas supply. It is recommended to wear protective gloves during installation.

  1. Remove Old Parts: Carefully remove the cooking grates, then lift out the old heat shields and burner tubes. Disconnect any crossover tubes or igniter wires.
  2. Clean Grill Interior: While the grill is disassembled, clean any debris, grease, or rust from the firebox and burner supports.
  3. Install New Burner Tubes: Place the new stainless steel burner tubes into their respective positions, ensuring they are properly seated over the gas valve orifices at one end and supported at the other.

  5. Place Heat Shields: Position the porcelain enameled steel heat shields directly above the burner tubes. Ensure they are seated correctly on their supports. These shields protect the burners and help distribute heat evenly.

  6. Replace Cooking Grates: Once all replacement parts are securely in place, reinstall your cooking grates.
  7. Leak Test: Reconnect the gas supply. Before lighting, perform a leak test using a soapy water solution on all gas connections. If bubbles appear, tighten the connection and retest. Do not use the grill if a gas leak is detected.

Operation & Performance

With the new Oklagarden replacement parts, your grill should exhibit improved performance:

  • Even Heat Distribution: The porcelain enameled heat shields are designed to disperse heat uniformly across the cooking surface, reducing hot and cold spots.
  • Enhanced Flavor: The heat shields protect burners from dripping grease. When grease vaporizes on the hot shields, it returns to the food, enhancing smoky flavor.
  • Burner Protection: Heat shields extend the life of your burners by preventing direct exposure to grease and food drippings.

Maintenance & Care

Regular maintenance will prolong the life of your replacement parts and ensure continued optimal grilling performance.

  • Clean Heat Shields: After each use, once the grill has cooled, scrape off any food residue from the heat shields. For deeper cleaning, remove them and wash with warm soapy water and a non-abrasive brush.
  • Inspect Burners: Periodically check burner tubes for blockages (e.g., spider webs, food debris) in the gas ports. Use a wire brush or a stiff wire to clear any obstructions.
  • Check Crossover Tube: Ensure the crossover tube remains free of blockages and is securely connected.
  • Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Do not use abrasive cleaners or sharp objects that could damage the porcelain enamel coating on the heat shields or the stainless steel finish of the burners.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues after installing your replacement parts, consider the following:

  • Parts Don't Fit: Double-check your grill's model number and the dimensions of your old parts against the compatibility section and Figure 2. Ensure you have the correct replacement kit.
  • Uneven Heating: Verify that burner tubes are correctly seated over the gas orifices and that all gas ports on the burners are clear of obstructions. Ensure heat shields are properly positioned.
  • Burners Not Lighting: Check gas supply. Ensure burner tubes are correctly aligned with the igniter electrodes. Clear any blockages in the burner ports.
  • Gas Leak Detected: Immediately turn off the gas supply. Re-tighten all gas connections and perform another soapy water leak test. If the leak persists, do not use the grill and contact a qualified technician.
