The device comes with a built-in battery. Before first use, fully charge the rangefinder using the provided USB cable.

  1. Connect the small end of the USB cable to the charging port on the rangefinder.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
  3. The charging indicator light will show the charging status. Once fully charged, the light will change or turn off.

3.2 Attaching the Lanyard

Attach the lanyard to the designated strap hole on the rangefinder to prevent accidental drops during use.

3.3 Initial Power On and Focus Adjustment

  2. Look through the eyepiece. If the display or target appears blurry, rotate the diopter adjustment ring (located near the eyepiece) until the image is clear and sharp.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Measurement

  1. Turn on the device by pressing the power button.
  2. Aim the crosshairs at your desired target.

4.2 Mode Selection

The VM1 offers various measurement modes. Press the mode button (usually marked with M or a similar icon) to cycle through the available modes:

  • Standard Distance Measurement: Measures the direct line-of-sight distance to the target.
  • Pin Lock Mode: Designed to easily lock onto the flagstick, ignoring background objects. When multiple objects are detected, it prioritizes the closest one.
  • Slope Compensation Mode: Calculates and displays the "play-as" distance, accounting for elevation changes (uphill/downhill). This mode can be toggled ON/OFF. An external LED light indicates when slope compensation is OFF, making it compliant for tournament play.
  • 3-Point Distance Measurement Mode: Allows you to measure the distance from your current position to a point, then from that point to the target (e.g., from cart to a hazard, then to the pin). This helps in selecting the optimal club.
  • Continuous Measurement Mode: Allows for scanning multiple targets or tracking moving objects by holding down the measurement button.
  • Speed Measurement Mode: Measures the speed of a moving object.
