Safety Information

Your 6D ATR-1 Apex helmet meets or exceeds ECE, DOT FMVSS 218, AU, and AC safety standards. Always wear a helmet that fits correctly and is securely fastened. A helmet cannot protect against all foreseeable impacts. For your safety, always ride within your limits and be aware of your surroundings.

Omni-Directional Suspension (ODS) Technology

The ODS system is an exclusive, patented technology designed to mitigate angular and linear acceleration forces during an impact. This system utilizes two independent liners separated by an array of elastomeric isolation dampers, allowing for omni-directional displacement during impact events.

Setup

1. Helmet Sizing and Fit

A properly fitting helmet is crucial for safety. The helmet should fit snugly around your head without causing pressure points. It should not move freely when you shake your head. If the helmet is too loose, it may not provide adequate protection.

  • To check fit, place the helmet on your head and fasten the chin strap.
  • Try to rotate the helmet from side to side and front to back. Your skin should move with the helmet.
  • If the helmet slides independently of your skin, it is too large.

2. Chin Strap Adjustment

The chin strap must always be securely fastened. The D-ring retention system ensures a secure fit.

  1. Thread the strap through both D-rings.
  2. Loop the strap back through the first D-ring only.
  3. Pull the strap tight until it is snug under your chin. Ensure there is no slack.
  4. The strap should be tight enough that you cannot remove the helmet by pulling it from the back.

3. Mud Visor Extension Installation (if applicable)

Your helmet may include a mud visor extension. To install:

  • Align the extension with the pre-drilled holes on the helmet's main visor.
  • Secure it using the provided screws or clips. Do not overtighten.

Operating

1. Wearing the Helmet

Always put on and remove your helmet carefully to avoid damage to the helmet or injury to yourself.

  • Hold the helmet by the chin straps.
  • Gently pull the straps outwards to widen the opening.
  • Slide the helmet onto your head, ensuring your ears are not folded.
  • Fasten the chin strap as described in the Setup section.

2. Ventilation System Use

The ATR-1 Apex features an optimized ventilation system with 8 intake ports, 13 transfer ports, and 4 large exhaust ports. These ports are designed to promote airflow and keep the interior comfortable. Most vents are passive, but some may have adjustable sliders to control airflow. Adjust these sliders as needed for varying conditions.

3. Emergency-Release Cheek Pads

For emergency situations, the helmet is equipped with emergency-release cheek pads. These allow for quick and easy removal of the helmet by trained personnel without putting undue stress on the rider's neck. Look for the red tabs at the bottom of the cheek pads. Pulling these tabs will release the pads.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Helmet Shell

Clean the exterior of your helmet with a soft cloth, mild soap, and lukewarm water. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the shell material and protective coatings.

2. Cleaning the Comfort Liner

The genuine Cool Comfort liner is removable and washable for hygiene. Remove the liner and cheek pads carefully.

  • Hand wash with mild soap and cold water.
  • Rinse thoroughly and air dry completely before reinstallation.
  • Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

3. Storage

Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use a helmet bag to protect it from scratches and dust.

4. Inspection for Damage

Regularly inspect your helmet for any signs of damage, such as cracks in the shell, frayed straps, or degraded liner material. If your helmet has sustained an impact, even if no visible damage is present, it should be replaced. Helmets are designed for a single impact event.
