1. Introduction

3. Product Overview
The RT86S features a 1.46-inch LCD display for clear information, large buttons for easy operation, and a robust ABS material casing for durability. Key components include the antenna, PTT button, speaker, microphone, LCD display, menu/navigation buttons, and Type-C charging port.

4. Getting Started (Setup)
4.1 Battery Installation
- Ensure the radio is powered off.
- Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio.
- Slide the battery pack upwards until it clicks securely into place.
4.2 Charging the Radio
The RT86S can be charged using the provided charging base or directly via the Type-C port.
- Using the Charging Base: Connect the power adapter to the charging base and plug it into a power outlet. Place the radio into the charging slot. The indicator light will show charging status.
- Using Type-C Cable: Connect the Type-C charging cable to the radio's Type-C port and to a compatible USB power source (e.g., power bank, PC, vehicle adapter).
A full charge takes approximately 6.5 hours, providing up to 15 hours of use time and 117 hours of standby time.

4.3 Powering On/Off
To power on the radio, rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise until you hear a click. To power off, rotate the knob counter-clockwise until it clicks.
5. Basic Operation
5.1 Adjusting Volume
Rotate the Power/Volume knob to adjust the listening volume. Clockwise increases volume, counter-clockwise decreases it.
5.2 Channel Selection
Use the up/down navigation buttons to select your desired channel. The selected channel will be displayed on the LCD screen.
5.3 Transmitting and Receiving
- To Transmit: Press and hold the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button when you finish speaking.
- To Receive: Ensure the PTT button is not pressed. The radio will automatically receive transmissions on the selected channel.
6. Advanced Features
6.1 Group Call Function
The Group Call function allows you to quickly communicate with multiple radios on a designated group channel.
- Long press the GRP key.
- All compatible RT86S radios will automatically switch to channel 6 for transmission and reception, facilitating quick group communication.

6.2 VOX (Voice Operated Transmission)
VOX allows you to transmit without pressing the PTT button, by simply speaking into the microphone. This is useful when your hands are occupied.
- The RT86S offers 9 levels of VOX sensitivity. Adjust the level through the radio's menu to suit your environment and voice.
- When VOX is enabled, the radio will automatically transmit when it detects your voice.
6.3 NOAA Weather Channels
The RT86S can detect severe weather conditions by accessing 11 NOAA weather channels, enhancing safety during outdoor or critical operations.
- Access NOAA channels through the radio's menu or a dedicated shortcut if configured.
- Monitor these channels for real-time weather alerts and forecasts.

6.4 Alarm Function
In emergency situations, the alarm function can be activated to send an alert.
- Long press Side Key 2 to activate the alarm.
- The radio will emit an alarm sound, helping to efficiently seek and get help.
6.5 Pairing with RT86 and other GMRS Radios
The RT86S is designed for compatibility with other GMRS walkie talkies, including the Retevis RT86 model.
- To connect with an RT86: Press the PTT key and Side Key 1 simultaneously on the RT86S while turning it on. The frequency will automatically synchronize with an RT86, allowing direct communication.
- The RT86S can also pair with other GMRS-compatible walkie talkies by ensuring they are set to the same frequency and privacy codes (if applicable).
7. Care and Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
Wipe the radio's surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the Type-C port cover is securely closed to prevent dust and moisture ingress.
