3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
The thermometer requires 2 AAA batteries (included). To install or replace batteries:
- Open the battery compartment cover located on the back of the device.
- Insert the 2 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
3.2 Temperature Unit Selection (°C/°F)
To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F):
- Ensure the thermometer is in shutdown mode.
- Press and hold the "SCAN" button for approximately 5 seconds until "°C" or "°F" is displayed.
- Release the "SCAN" button.
- Short press the "SCAN" button again to toggle between "°C" and "°F".

3.3 Silent Mode Activation
The thermometer features a silent mode to avoid disturbing sleeping individuals. To enable or disable the prompt tone:
- Remove the battery compartment cover.
- Remove the batteries.
- Locate the small prompt tone switch inside the battery compartment and toggle it to the desired ON or OFF position.
- Reinstall the batteries and close the battery cover.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 General Measurement Guidelines
- Ensure the thermometer is clean before use.
- Allow the thermometer to acclimatize to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before use if it has been stored in a significantly different environment.
- For consistent results, take measurements at the same location and time of day.
- Avoid taking measurements immediately after eating, drinking, exercising, or showering.
4.2 Switching Measurement Modes
The thermometer can easily switch between Ear Mode and Forehead Mode by adjusting the probe cap.

- Ear Mode: Remove the magnetic probe cap.
- Forehead Mode: Ensure the magnetic probe cap is securely attached.
4.3 Forehead Mode Measurement
This mode is suitable for all ages and provides a non-contact measurement.
- Ensure the probe cap is attached.
- Press the "ON/OFF/MODE" button to turn on the thermometer.
- Point the thermometer at the center of the forehead, maintaining a distance of 0.3 to 1.2 inches (1-3 cm).
- Press the "SCAN" button. The reading will appear on the display in approximately 1 second.

4.4 Ear Mode Measurement
Ear temperature readings are considered highly accurate, especially for detecting fever.
- Remove the probe cap.
- Press the "ON/OFF/MODE" button to turn on the thermometer.
- Gently insert the probe into the ear canal. For children under 1 year, gently pull the ear straight back. For children over 1 year and adults, gently pull the ear up and back to straighten the ear canal.
- Press the "SCAN" button. The reading will appear on the display in approximately 1 second.

4.5 Object Mode Measurement
This mode allows for measuring the surface temperature of objects, such as baby bottles or bath water.
- Press the "ON/OFF/MODE" button to turn on the thermometer.
- Press the "ON/OFF/MODE" button repeatedly until the object mode icon (usually a bottle or similar) appears on the display.
- Point the thermometer at the object whose surface temperature you wish to measure.
- Press the "SCAN" button. The reading will appear on the display.

4.6 Memory Function
The thermometer stores up to 20 previous temperature readings. To access memory records:
- With the thermometer turned on, press the "SCAN" button briefly.
- Each subsequent short press of the "SCAN" button will cycle through the stored readings, from most recent to oldest.
4.7 Clear Reading in the Dark
The large LED screen with backlight and silent mode feature allows for easy temperature readings even in low-light conditions without disturbing a sleeping individual.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
- After each use, especially for ear measurements, clean the probe with an alcohol swab or a cotton swab moistened with alcohol (70% isopropyl alcohol).
- Do not immerse the thermometer in water or any other liquid.
- Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the body of the thermometer.
- Ensure the thermometer is completely dry before storing.
5.2 Storage
- Store the thermometer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Keep out of reach of children.
