4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking and Inspection

  1. Carefully remove the battery from its packaging.
  2. Inspect the battery for any visible damage during shipping. If damage is found, contact your seller immediately.
  3. Verify that all components, including the M8 terminal bolts, are present.

4.2 Installation Guidelines

  • Choose a clean, dry, and well-ventilated location for installation.
  • Ensure the battery is securely mounted to prevent movement or vibration.
  • Connect the battery terminals using appropriate cables and ensure connections are tight. The terminal bolts are M8 (16mm length).
  • When connecting multiple batteries in series or parallel, ensure all batteries are of the same brand, type, voltage, capacity, and have identical BMS. For optimal performance and safety, it is recommended that batteries for series-parallel connections are purchased within the same month.
  • Always connect the positive (+) terminal to the positive (+) terminal and the negative (-) terminal to the negative (-) terminal for parallel connections. For series connections, connect the positive (+) of one battery to the negative (-) of the next.
  • Use a compatible LiFePO4 charger for charging.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Charging and Discharging

  • The battery is designed for deep cycle use. Avoid using it for high-current starting applications.
  • Use a charger specifically designed for LiFePO4 batteries with appropriate voltage and current settings.
  • The integrated BMS protects against overcharging and over-discharging, but it is good practice to monitor charge levels.
  • Voltage and current readings may deviate by 1% to 5% depending on measurement methods, instruments, and environmental conditions.

5.2 Temperature Considerations

The battery features low-temperature protection to ensure safe operation and longevity. Observe the following temperature guidelines:

  • Charging Off: Below 0°C (32°F), the BMS will prevent charging.
  • Charging Recovery: Charging will resume when the temperature rises above 5°C (41°F).
  • Discharging Off: Below -20°C (-4°F), the BMS will prevent discharging.
  • The battery maintains normal performance within its wide operating temperature range of -4°F to 140°F (-20°C to 60°C).

6. Maintenance

  • Regular Charging/Discharging: To prevent damage from disuse, charge and discharge the battery at least once every six months.
  • Terminal Inspection: Periodically check the battery terminals for corrosion or looseness. Clean terminals as needed and ensure connections are tight.
  • Storage: If storing the battery for an extended period, ensure it is charged to approximately 50% state of charge and stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Cleaning: Keep the battery casing clean and free of dust and debris. Use a dry cloth for cleaning.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your yeagulch LiFePO4 battery, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Battery not chargingCharger not connected, charger fault, battery temperature too low, BMS protection activated (over-discharge)Check charger connection and functionality. Ensure ambient temperature is above 0°C (32°F). If BMS protection is active, allow battery to warm up or connect to a compatible charger to reset.
Battery not discharging/low power outputBattery discharged, BMS protection activated (over-discharge, overcurrent, low temperature), loose connectionsCharge the battery. Check for loose or corroded terminal connections. Ensure ambient temperature is above -20°C (-4°F). Reduce load if overcurrent protection is active.
Battery appears deadDeeply discharged, BMS in protection modeAttempt to charge with a compatible LiFePO4 charger. If the battery does not respond, contact customer support.

If the problem persists after following these steps, please contact yeagulch customer support for further assistance.
