5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Yarn Selection

This machine is compatible with yarn sizes ranging from 1.2mm to 4.0mm. Select yarn appropriate for your project and the machine's needle pitch (6.5mm).

5.2 Threading the Yarn

  1. Place your chosen yarn cone or ball on the yarn mast.
  2. Thread the yarn through the tension guides on the yarn mast.
  3. Guide the yarn into the yarn feeder on the carriage. Ensure the yarn moves freely through all guides.

5.3 Casting On

Follow the specific casting-on method for your desired stitch pattern. This typically involves manually placing loops of yarn onto the needles or using a specific carriage setting to create the initial row.

5.4 Knitting Process

  1. Once cast on, ensure the carriage settings (e.g., tension dial, stitch size) are appropriate for your yarn and desired fabric.
  2. Push the carriage smoothly across the needle bed. The roller-capped latch needles will automatically form stitches.
  3. Attach weights to the knitted fabric as it grows to maintain even tension and prevent stitches from dropping.
  4. For manual needle selection, use the provided tools to move individual needles forward or backward as required by your pattern.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

  • Regularly clean the needle bed and carriage to remove lint and yarn fibers. Use a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner with a narrow attachment.
  • Wipe down the machine surfaces with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

6.2 Lubrication

  • Periodically apply a small amount of knitting machine oil to the needle bed and carriage rails to ensure smooth operation. Refer to specialized knitting machine oil for best results.
  • Do not over-lubricate, as excess oil can stain yarn.

6.3 Storage

  • When not in use, store the machine in its original packaging or a protective cover to prevent dust accumulation.
  • Store in a dry environment to prevent rust or damage to components.
