Setup and First Use

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and labels from the slow cooker.

  3. Assemble: Place the stoneware crock into the heating base. Position the glass lid securely on top of the crock.
  4. Placement: Place the assembled slow cooker on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface, away from walls or cabinets to allow for proper ventilation.
  5. Power: Ensure the control knob is in the "OFF" position before plugging the unit into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

Cooking with Your Slow Cooker

  1. Prepare your ingredients and place them into the stoneware crock. Do not overfill; leave at least 1 inch of space from the top rim.
  2. Place the lid on the stoneware crock.
  3. Plug the slow cooker into a grounded electrical outlet.
  4. Select the desired cooking setting using the control knob:
    • LOW: For slow, gentle cooking over a longer period (typically 6-8 hours).
    • HIGH: For faster cooking (typically 3-4 hours).
    • WARM: To keep cooked food at a serving temperature after cooking is complete. Do not use the WARM setting for cooking.
  5. Cook for the recommended time according to your recipe. Avoid lifting the lid frequently, as this releases heat and extends cooking time.
  6. Once cooking is complete, turn the control knob to "OFF" and unplug the unit.
  7. Carefully remove the lid using the cool-touch handle. Use oven mitts as the lid and crock will be hot.

Tips for Best Results

  • For best flavor, brown meats and sauté vegetables before adding them to the slow cooker.
  • Liquids do not evaporate in a slow cooker as they do in conventional cooking. Reduce liquid amounts in recipes by about half.
  • Dairy products should be added during the last 30 minutes of cooking to prevent curdling.
  • Root vegetables cook slower than meat. Cut them into smaller, uniform pieces and place them at the bottom of the crock.

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning

  1. Always unplug the slow cooker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. The stoneware crock and glass lid are dishwasher safe. Alternatively, they can be washed by hand with warm, soapy water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  3. Wipe the exterior of the heating base with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the heating base in water or any other liquid.
  4. For stubborn food residue on the stoneware crock, fill it with warm, soapy water and let it soak for a few hours before cleaning.

Storage

Ensure all parts are clean and dry before storing. Store the slow cooker in a cool, dry place. You can store the lid inverted on the crock, and the crock inside the heating base to save space.
