2. Safety Information
Always prioritize your child's safety. This car seat meets or exceeds all applicable federal safety standards. Improper use can lead to serious injury or death. Always follow the instructions in this manual and on the car seat labels.
2.1 Weight and Height Requirements
- Harness Booster Mode: For children weighing 30-50 lbs and measuring 29-48 inches in height, typically 2 years of age and older.
- High-Back Booster Mode: For children weighing 40-100 lbs and measuring 38-50 inches in height, typically 4 years of age and older.
- Backless Booster Mode: For children weighing 40-100 lbs and measuring 42-57 inches in height, typically 4 years of age and older.
Always ensure your child meets the minimum and maximum weight and height requirements for the chosen mode of use.
2.2 Side Impact Protection
The Hybrid SI features advanced side impact protection. The headrest is height-adjustable to provide superior side impact protection as your child grows. Side impact pods (EPP Pods) are integrated into the car seat frame to absorb energy during a collision, offering additional safety. Note that EPP Pods are effective in Harness Mode only, meeting FMVSS 213a Side Impact Requirements. Booster Modes are not subject to FMVSS 213a Side Impact Requirements.

4. Modes of Use
The Baby Trend Hybrid SI is designed to adapt as your child grows, offering three distinct modes of use:
4.1 Harness Booster Mode
This mode utilizes the integrated 5-point harness system for children weighing 30-50 lbs and 29-48 inches tall. Ensure the harness straps are at or above your child's shoulders and are snug against their body.

4.2 High-Back Booster Mode
For children weighing 40-100 lbs and 38-50 inches tall, the 5-point harness can be removed, and the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt system is used. The high back provides continued head and back support.

4.3 Backless Booster Mode
When your child reaches 40-100 lbs and 42-57 inches tall, the backrest can be removed, converting the seat into a backless booster. This mode also uses the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt system.

5. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is critical for safety. Refer to the detailed instructions and diagrams on the car seat itself and in the full owner's manual for specific steps. This car seat can be installed using your vehicle's LATCH system or the vehicle's seat belt.
5.1 LATCH System Installation
The LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) system provides a secure installation without using the vehicle's seat belt. Locate the lower anchors in your vehicle's back seat and attach the car seat's lower anchor connectors. Secure the top tether strap to the designated tether anchor point in your vehicle.

5.2 Vehicle Seat Belt Installation
If your vehicle does not have LATCH anchors or if you prefer, the car seat can be installed using the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt. Follow the belt path guides on the car seat to correctly route the vehicle's seat belt. Ensure the seat belt is tight and the car seat is securely installed with minimal movement.
5.3 Unboxing and Assembly Overview
The car seat comes mostly pre-assembled. Minor assembly may be required, such as snapping the backrest into place for the high-back booster mode or removing it for the backless booster mode. Always refer to the included manual for detailed assembly steps.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Adjusting the Head Support
The head support can be adjusted to 6 different height positions to accommodate your child's growth. To adjust, locate the adjustment mechanism (usually a lever or button) at the top or back of the headrest, squeeze or press, and slide the headrest up or down to the desired position. Ensure it clicks securely into place.

6.2 Adjusting the 5-Point Harness
The 5-point harness has 3 height positions. Ensure the harness straps are positioned at or slightly above your child's shoulders. To adjust the harness height, re-thread the straps through the appropriate slots in the seat back. Always ensure the harness is snug against your child's body, with no slack.

6.3 Securing the Child
In harness mode, place your child in the seat, bring the shoulder straps over their shoulders, and connect the chest clip at armpit level. Insert the two buckle tongues into the crotch buckle until they click. Pull the harness tension adjuster strap to tighten the harness until it is snug. In booster modes, ensure the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt are correctly positioned across your child's lap and shoulder, respectively.

7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning Instructions
The seat pad and soft inserts are removable and reversible for easy cleaning. Refer to the care labels on the fabric for specific washing instructions. Typically, machine wash cold on a delicate cycle and air dry. Do not use bleach. The plastic and metal parts can be wiped clean with a mild soap and water solution. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
7.2 Storage
When not in use, store the car seat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure all components are properly attached or stored as per the manual to prevent loss or damage.
8. Troubleshooting
- Car Seat is Loose: Ensure the LATCH connectors or vehicle seat belt are properly tightened. Apply pressure to the car seat while tightening. The car seat should not move more than one inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.
- Harness Straps are Twisted: Unbuckle the harness and untwist the straps. Ensure they lie flat against your child's body.
- Child is Uncomfortable: Check the harness and headrest adjustments. Ensure the soft inserts are correctly positioned.
- Difficulty Adjusting Headrest/Harness: Ensure no fabric or debris is obstructing the adjustment mechanism. Refer to the manual for specific adjustment steps.
