4. Setup

Follow these steps to assemble your telescope:

1. Set up the Tripod: Extend the legs of the tripod (H) to a suitable height and spread them apart for stability. Secure the legs using the locking mechanisms.
2. Attach the Telescope Tube: Locate the mounting bracket on the telescope tube (A) and align it with the mounting platform on the tripod. Secure the telescope tube to the tripod using the provided screw or clamp.
3. Install the Finder Scope: Slide the finder scope (F) into its bracket on the main telescope tube. Tighten the small screws on the bracket to hold it in place.
4. Insert the Diagonal Mirror: Remove the dust cap from the focuser tube at the back of the telescope. Insert the diagonal mirror (D) into the focuser and tighten the small thumbscrew to secure it.
5. Insert an Eyepiece: Choose an eyepiece (C), typically the H20mm for initial viewing, and insert it into the diagonal mirror. Tighten the small thumbscrew on the diagonal mirror to hold the eyepiece.
6. Attach the Control Lever: Screw the control lever (G) into the designated port on the telescope mount for easier manual tracking.
7. Attach the Smartphone Adapter (Optional): If desired, attach the smartphone adapter (E) to an eyepiece. Place your smartphone into the adapter and align its camera lens with the eyepiece.

5. Operating the Telescope

1. Aligning the Finder Scope: Before observing, align the finder scope with the main telescope. Point the main telescope at a distant, stationary object (e.g., a treetop). Look through the finder scope and adjust its alignment screws until the object is centered in the finder scope's crosshairs.
2. Locating an Object: Use the finder scope to locate the desired celestial or terrestrial object. Once centered in the finder scope, it should be visible in the main telescope's eyepiece.
3. Focusing: Look through the eyepiece and slowly turn the focusing knob (located on the focuser tube) until the image is sharp and clear.
4. Changing Magnification:
   • The H20mm eyepiece provides 15X magnification.
   • The H6mm eyepiece provides 50X magnification.
   • To achieve higher magnification, insert the 3X Barlow Lens (K) into the diagonal mirror first, then insert an eyepiece into the Barlow lens. This will multiply the eyepiece's magnification by 3 (e.g., H20mm with Barlow = 45X, H6mm with Barlow = 150X).
   • The 1.5X Erecting Eyepiece (L) can be used for terrestrial viewing to correct the inverted image.

5. Tracking Objects: As celestial objects move across the sky, use the control lever (G) and the horizontal motion lock to make small adjustments to keep the object centered in your field of view.
6. Using the Moon Filter: For observing the moon, insert the Moon Filter (B) into the bottom of your chosen eyepiece before inserting the eyepiece into the diagonal mirror. This will reduce glare and enhance contrast.

6. Maintenance

• Cleaning Lenses: Use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optical lenses. Gently wipe the lens surface. For stubborn smudges, use a small amount of optical cleaning fluid on the cloth, not directly on the lens.
• Storage: When not in use, cover the telescope with its dust caps and store it in a dry, dust-free environment. Avoid extreme temperatures and humidity.
• General Care: Avoid touching optical surfaces with bare hands. Keep the telescope away from direct sunlight when not in use to prevent internal heat buildup.
