Model: 04 (Fits Door Size 32'' x 80'')

Brand: HOFUDON

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the HOFUDON Upgraded Magnetic Screen Door Mesh. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your new screen door. Designed for convenience and durability, this magnetic screen door allows fresh air circulation while keeping insects out. Please read these instructions carefully before installation and retain them for future reference.

2. Safety Information

  • Ensure the installation surface is clean, dry, and smooth for optimal adhesive performance.
  • Keep small children and pets supervised during initial use to ensure they understand how to pass through the screen safely.
  • Do not hang heavy objects on the screen door.
  • In areas with extreme heat or direct prolonged sunlight, consider using additional fasteners (e.g., pushpins, small nails) to reinforce the adhesive strip, as high temperatures may affect adhesive strength over time.

3. Package Contents

Your HOFUDON Magnetic Screen Door Mesh package should include the following items:

  • 1 x Magnetic Screen Door Mesh
  • 1 x Hook-and-loop adhesive strip (wide)
  • 1 x Hook-and-loop adhesive strip (narrow)
  • 2 x Hooks (for holding the screen open)
  • Pushpins (for optional additional securing)

4. Product Features

  • Full Strip Magnets: Continuous full-length magnets provide faster auto-closing and a seamless, gap-free fit.
  • Fiberglass Mesh Material: Heavy-duty fiberglass mesh designed for long-term daily use, offering breathability, fresh air, natural light, and effective insect blocking.
  • Hook and Loop Frame Design: Top adhesive strip (1.6 inches wide) ensures stable installation. The screen is removable and re-installable without damaging door frames.
  • Reinforced Top Line: Unique reinforcement structure protects the upper part of the mesh from tearing.
  • Bottom Stabilizing Sticks: Includes two bottom stabilizing sticks to help keep the screen door closed in light wind, making it pet-friendly.

5. Choosing the Right Size

To ensure a proper fit, accurately measure your door frame before installation. The screen door is designed to fit doorways up to 32 inches wide by 80 inches high. The actual screen size is 35 inches wide by 82 inches high, allowing for overlap on the door frame.

6. Setup / Installation

Follow these steps for a smooth installation:

  1. Clean the Door Frame: Thoroughly clean the door frame surface where the screen will be installed. Ensure it is completely dry and free of dust or debris for optimal adhesive bonding.
  2. Lay Out the Screen: Place the mesh curtain flat on the floor with the magnets aligned and the soft side of the Velcro (hook-and-loop) facing up.
  3. Attach Velcro to Screen: Attach the provided hook-and-loop adhesive strip around the edges of the screen. Do not peel off the backing tape from the adhesive side yet.
  4. Position the Screen: Carefully position the screen door mesh on your door frame. Start by attaching the top center of the screen slightly higher than the outer edges. This helps ensure the magnets close properly.
  5. Secure the Top: Once the top is aligned, peel off a small section of the backing tape from the top center of the adhesive strip and firmly press it onto the door frame.
  6. Peel and Press: Gradually peel off the backing tape from top to bottom, pressing the screen firmly onto the door frame as you go. Ensure the screen hangs straight and the magnets align perfectly.
  7. Install Hooks (Optional): If desired, install the provided hooks on the sides of the door frame to hold the screen open when not in use.
  8. Reinforce (Optional): For added security, especially in high-wind areas or on sun-exposed doors, use the included pushpins to further secure the adhesive strip to the door frame.

8. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your HOFUDON Magnetic Screen Door, follow these maintenance tips:

  • Cleaning: The fiberglass mesh is washable and reusable. For light cleaning, wipe the mesh with a damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, the screen can be removed and gently rinsed with water. Allow it to air dry completely before re-installing.
  • Inspect Magnets: Periodically check the full-strip magnets to ensure they are free of debris and continue to align and close properly.
  • Adhesive Check: Regularly inspect the hook-and-loop adhesive strip for any signs of loosening. Re-secure or reinforce with pushpins if necessary.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Magnets Not Closing Properly: Ensure the screen is installed with the top center slightly higher than the sides. This creates a slight tension that helps the magnets snap together. Check for any obstructions or misalignment of the magnetic strips.
  • Gaps at the Bottom: The screen includes two bottom stabilizing sticks to help keep the screen closed in light wind and prevent gaps. Ensure these are properly positioned.
  • Adhesive Losing Grip: In areas exposed to intense sunlight or high temperatures, the adhesive may weaken over time. Reinforce the installation using the provided pushpins or consider using a stronger, heat-resistant double-sided tape (e.g., 3M VHB tape) for added durability.
  • Screen Tearing: The fiberglass mesh is heavy-duty and tear-resistant. However, if tearing occurs due to extreme force, small repairs can be made with mesh repair kits.
