5. Setup

5.1. Mounting

  1. Prepare a panel cutout according to the dimensions provided in Figure 4.2.3. The cutout dimensions are approximately 192mm [7.559"] W x 138mm [5.433"] H.
  2. Insert the HMI unit into the cutout from the front of the panel.
  3. Secure the HMI using the provided mounting brackets/clips from the rear of the panel. Tighten the screws evenly to ensure a snug fit without over-tightening.

5.2. Power Connection

Connect a stable 24V DC power supply to the designated power terminal block on the rear of the HMI (refer to Figure 4.2.2). Ensure correct polarity (positive and negative terminals) to prevent damage.

5.3. Communication Connections

The MT8072iP supports various communication interfaces:

  • COM1 (RS232): For serial communication with compatible devices.
  • COM2 (RS485): For industrial serial communication, often used in multi-drop networks.
  • USB Ports: For connecting external devices such as USB flash drives for project transfer or other peripherals.

Connect the appropriate cables to the respective ports based on your application requirements.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Powering On/Off

  • Power On: Apply 24V DC power to the HMI. The device will boot up automatically.
  • Power Off: Disconnect the 24V DC power supply. It is recommended to ensure any critical operations are complete before powering off.

6.2. Basic Touch Screen Operation

The MT8072iP features a resistive touch screen. Interact with the display by gently pressing the screen with your finger or a non-sharp stylus. The HMI's functionality is determined by the project loaded onto it, which is typically developed using specific HMI programming software (not included with the hardware).

6.3. Project Loading

HMI projects are created using compatible software on a computer. These projects can then be transferred to the MT8072iP via a USB drive or other supported methods. Refer to the software's documentation for detailed instructions on project creation and transfer.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning

To clean the display and casing:

  • Disconnect power to the HMI.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution (e.g., screen cleaner or water).
  • Do not spray cleaning solution directly onto the screen or into any openings.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive materials.

7.2. Environmental Considerations

Ensure the operating environment remains within the specified temperature and humidity ranges to prolong the life of the device. Regularly inspect the HMI for any signs of physical damage or loose connections.

8. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues. For problems not listed here, contact technical support.
