7.4 Diode Test

To test a diode:

  1. Turn off power to the circuit.
  2. Set the rotary switch to the Ω position, then press the SEL button until the diode symbol (→|) appears on the display.
  3. Connect the red test lead to the anode and the black test lead to the cathode of the diode.
  4. Read the forward voltage drop on the LCD. Reverse the leads; the display should show "OL" (Open Line) for a good diode.

7.5 Continuity Test

To check for continuity:

  1. Turn off power to the circuit.
  2. Set the rotary switch to the Ω position, then press the SEL button until the continuity symbol ()))) appears on the display.
  3. Connect the test leads across the component or circuit path.

To use the NCV function:

  1. Set the rotary switch to the NCV position.
  2. Move the NCV sensor probe (top of the clamp jaw) close to the conductor or outlet you want to test.

  2. Connect the K-Type thermocouple to the input jacks, observing polarity.
