3. Setup

  1. Unpack the Shredder: Carefully remove the shredder from its packaging. Ensure all packing materials are removed from the shredder and the waste bin.
  2. Position the Shredder: Place the shredder on a flat, stable surface. The integrated casters allow for easy movement. To secure the shredder in place, engage the lock mechanism on the casters.

  3. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet. Ensure the power switch on the shredder is in the "OFF" position before plugging it in.
  4. Insert Waste Bin: Ensure the waste bin is correctly inserted into the shredder body. The shredder will not operate if the bin is not properly seated.

4. Operation

The bonsaii C290-A shredder offers both automatic and manual feeding options for versatile document shredding.

4.2. Automatic Feed Operation (Auto-Feed)

  1. Ensure the shredder is plugged in and the power is ON.
  2. Open the auto-feed tray cover.
  3. Stack up to 150 sheets of A4 paper (64g/㎡) neatly into the auto-feed tray. Ensure there are no staples, paper clips, or other foreign objects.
  4. Close the auto-feed tray cover. The shredder will automatically begin shredding the stack.
  5. The shredder can operate continuously for up to 60 minutes. Allow a cool-down period if the shredder overheats.

4.3. Manual Feed Operation

  1. For manual shredding, insert up to 12 sheets of paper into the manual feed slot.
  2. The shredder will automatically detect the paper and begin shredding.
  3. Credit cards can also be shredded through the manual feed slot. Insert one card at a time.
  4. The manual feed function supports continuous use for up to 10 minutes.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your shredder.

5.1. Emptying the Waste Bin

5.2. Auto-Cleaning Function

The shredder is equipped with an auto-cleaning function to clear paper residue from the blades. This function activates automatically:

5.3. Oiling the Shredder Blades (Recommended)

To maintain optimal performance and extend the life of your shredder, it is recommended to oil the shredder blades regularly, especially after emptying the waste bin multiple times or after heavy use. Use a shredder-specific lubricant sheet or oil.

  1. Apply shredder oil in a zigzag pattern across a sheet of paper, or use a pre-lubricated shredder sheet.
  2. Feed the oiled sheet into the manual feed slot.
  3. Run the shredder in reverse for 10-20 seconds after shredding the sheet to distribute the oil.

6. Troubleshooting

Refer to this section for common issues and their solutions.

  • Press the reverse button to clear the jam. Remove excess paper.
  • Ensure paper is inserted straight.
  • Remove all staples and paper clips before shredding.
  • The auto-reverse function will attempt to clear minor jams automatically.
Shredder stops during operation.
  • Waste bin is full.
  • Overheat protection activated.
  • Continuous run time exceeded.
  • Empty the waste bin.
  • Allow the shredder to cool down for at least 30 minutes.
  • Refer to the continuous run time limits (60 min auto-feed, 10 min manual feed).
Shredded paper is not micro-cut.Incorrect shredder model or expectation.This model is designed for micro-cut shredding (4x12mm). If the output is larger, contact customer support.
