4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the safe and reliable operation of the power supply.

  1. Mounting: Choose a stable, well-ventilated location for mounting the power supply. Ensure there is sufficient clearance around the unit for airflow, especially near the fan and ventilation grilles.
  2. Input Wiring (AC):
    • Locate the input terminals labeled 'L', 'N', and 'FG' on the rear of the unit (refer to Figure 3.2).
    • Connect the Live wire from your AC mains to the 'L' terminal.
    • Connect the Neutral wire from your AC mains to the 'N' terminal.
    • Connect the Frame Ground wire to the 'FG' terminal. This connection is essential for safety.
    • Ensure all connections are tight and secure. Use appropriate gauge wiring for the expected current.
  3. Output Wiring (DC):
    • Locate the output terminals labeled 'POS(+)' and 'NEG(-)' on the front of the unit (refer to Figure 3.1).
    • Connect the positive lead of your load to the 'POS(+)' terminal.
    • Connect the negative lead of your load to the 'NEG(-)' terminal.
    • Verify that the load's voltage and current requirements are within the power supply's specifications (24V, 50A max).
    • Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
  4. Voltage Adjustment: The output voltage can be fine-tuned using the 'V-ADJ' potentiometer located near the output terminals (refer to Figure 3.1). Use a small screwdriver to carefully adjust the voltage within the specified range if necessary. Do not exceed the maximum rated voltage of your load.

5. Operating Instructions

Once the power supply is properly installed and wired:

  1. Power On: Apply AC power to the input terminals. The internal fan should start, indicating operation.
  2. Verify Output: Use a multimeter to verify the DC output voltage at the 'POS(+)' and 'NEG(-)' terminals before connecting sensitive equipment.
  3. Connect Load: Connect your DC load to the output terminals. Ensure the load does not draw more than 50A.
  4. Monitoring: Periodically check the power supply for excessive heat or unusual noises. Ensure ventilation remains unobstructed.
  5. Power Off: To shut down, disconnect the AC input power.

6. Maintenance

The WVAIUPIX S-1200-24 power supply is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks can extend its lifespan.

  • Cleaning: Ensure the ventilation grilles and fan are free from dust and debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air to gently clean these areas. Always disconnect power before cleaning.
  • Connections: Periodically check all input and output wiring connections to ensure they remain tight and secure. Loose connections can cause arcing and overheating.
  • Environment: Maintain a clean, dry, and well-ventilated operating environment. Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures or humidity.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your power supply, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No output voltage / Unit not powering onNo AC input power; Loose input wiring; Internal fuse blown; Unit failure.Check AC power source and connections. Ensure input voltage is correct. Verify wiring. If fuse is suspected, contact support. Do not attempt internal repairs.
Output voltage too low or unstableOverload condition; Loose output wiring; V-ADJ setting incorrect; Unit malfunction.Reduce load current. Check output wiring. Adjust V-ADJ potentiometer. If problem persists, contact support.
OverheatingInsufficient ventilation; Overload condition; Fan malfunction.Ensure clear airflow around the unit. Reduce load. Check if the fan is operating. Clean fan and grilles.

If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, please contact WVAIUPIX customer support.
