5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Gently open the sensor casing to access the battery compartment.
- Insert two (2) AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Note: Batteries are not included.
- Close the sensor casing securely.
5.2 Mounting the Sensor
The sensor can be placed flat on a surface or mounted to a wall or column using the provided adhesive sticker.
- Surface Placement: Simply place the sensor in your desired location.
- Wall/Column Mounting:
- Clean the mounting surface to ensure it is dry and free of dust.
- Peel off the protective film from one side of the adhesive sticker and attach it to the back of the sensor.
- Peel off the protective film from the other side of the sticker and firmly press the sensor onto the desired wall or column location.
5.3 ZigBee Hub Requirement
This sensor requires a ZigBee gateway (e.g., Tuya Zigbee Gateway) to function and connect to your smart home network. It cannot operate as a standalone device.

5.4 Pairing with ZigBee Gateway and App Integration
- Ensure your ZigBee gateway is powered on and connected to your home network.
- Open the Smart Life or Tuya App on your smartphone.
- Add a new device in the app and select the option to add a ZigBee device or sensor.
- Follow the app's instructions to put your ZigBee gateway into pairing mode.
- On the luminance sensor, use the provided pin to press and hold the RESET button for approximately 5-10 seconds until the indicator light flashes, indicating it is in pairing mode.
- The app should detect and add the sensor. Once successfully paired, you can rename the device and configure its settings within the app.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Real-time Monitoring
Once paired, the sensor will report real-time luminance data to your Smart Life/Tuya App. You can view the current brightness level and historical data within the app interface.

6.2 Scene Linkage and Automation
The primary function of the luminance sensor is to enable smart scene automation. You can create rules in the Smart Life/Tuya App to trigger actions based on detected brightness levels.
- Example Scenario: If the ambient brightness drops below a set LUX value (e.g., 50 LUX), trigger a smart light to turn on.
- Example Scenario: If the ambient brightness exceeds a set LUX value (e.g., 500 LUX), trigger smart curtains to close.
To set up scene linkage:
- Navigate to the 'Smart' or 'Automation' section in your Smart Life/Tuya App.
- Create a new automation.
- Set the condition: 'When device status changes' -> select your Luminance Sensor -> 'Brightness' -> set your desired LUX threshold (e.g., 'less than 50').
- Set the task: 'Run the device' -> select your smart light/curtain -> 'Turn On'/'Close'.
- Save the automation.

6.3 Sharing with Family
You can share control and monitoring access of the luminance sensor with other family members through the Smart Life/Tuya App. This allows multiple users to view sensor data and manage associated automations.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Battery Replacement
The sensor is powered by two AAA batteries. When the battery level is low, the app will send a low power alarm notification. Replace the batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation.

7.2 Cleaning
To maintain accurate detection, keep the sensing surface of the luminance sensor clean and free from dust or obstructions. Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the sensor surface as needed.
8. Troubleshooting
- Sensor not connecting to app:
- Ensure the ZigBee gateway is online and functioning correctly.
- Check if the sensor batteries are installed correctly and have sufficient charge.
- Verify that the sensor is within range of the ZigBee gateway.
- Attempt to re-pair the sensor with the gateway by following the pairing instructions in Section 5.4.
- Inaccurate brightness readings:
- Clean the sensing surface of the sensor to remove any dust or debris.
- Ensure the sensor is not obstructed by objects that might block ambient light.
- Verify the sensor's placement is suitable for monitoring the desired area's brightness.
- Automations not triggering:
- Check the automation rules configured in the Smart Life/Tuya App to ensure conditions and tasks are set correctly.
- Confirm that the luminance sensor is reporting data to the app.
- Ensure the linked smart devices (lights, curtains, etc.) are online and responsive.
