5. Setup
Follow these steps to set up your DC power supply:
- Unpack the Unit: Carefully remove the power supply and all accessories from the packaging.
- Placement: Place the power supply on a stable, level surface with adequate ventilation. Ensure that the air intake and exhaust vents are not obstructed.
- Power Connection: Connect the provided power cord to the AC input socket on the rear of the unit, then plug the other end into a suitable grounded AC power outlet (110V or 220V, depending on your region and unit's setting).
- Initial Check: Before connecting any load, turn on the power supply using the ON/OFF switch. The LED display should illuminate, showing default voltage and current values.

Figure 1: Front view of the BUUBO DPS605U DC Power Supply. The display shows 60.00V, 5.000A, and 300.0W. Control knobs for voltage and current adjustment are visible on the right. An external cooling fan is also depicted, highlighting the unit's thermal management.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Front Panel Controls and Indicators
- LED Display: Shows real-time output voltage (V), current (A), and power (W).
- V-COARSE / V-FINE Knobs: Adjust the output voltage. V-COARSE provides large adjustments, while V-FINE allows for precise tuning.
- A-COARSE / A-FINE Knobs: Adjust the output current limit. A-COARSE provides large adjustments, while A-FINE allows for precise tuning.
- ON/OFF Switch: Main power switch for the unit.
- Output Terminals (+, -, Ground): Connect your load using the provided test leads. Red for positive (+), Black for negative (-), Green for ground.
- C.V Indicator: Illuminates when the power supply is operating in Constant Voltage mode.
- C.C Indicator: Illuminates when the power supply is operating in Constant Current mode.
- OCP Indicator: Illuminates when Over-Current Protection is active.
- Quick Charge Port: USB port for fast charging compatible devices.
6.2 Basic Operation
- Power On: Ensure no load is connected. Flip the ON/OFF switch to the 'ON' position.
- Set Voltage: Use the V-COARSE and V-FINE knobs to set the desired output voltage. Observe the voltage reading on the LED display.
- Set Current Limit: To set the current limit, short-circuit the output terminals (briefly connect + and - with a test lead, or use a low-resistance load). The C.C indicator will light up. Use the A-COARSE and A-FINE knobs to set the desired maximum current. Remove the short circuit.
- Connect Load: Connect your device or circuit to the output terminals, ensuring correct polarity.
- Monitor Output: The display will show the actual voltage, current, and power being delivered to the load. The C.V or C.C indicator will show the operating mode.
- Power Off: Disconnect the load, then flip the ON/OFF switch to the 'OFF' position.
Note: The power supply automatically switches between Constant Voltage (C.V) and Constant Current (C.C) modes depending on the load resistance and your set limits. If the load attempts to draw more current than the set limit, the unit will enter C.C mode, and the output voltage will drop to maintain the set current.
7. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of your power supply, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ventilation: Keep the ventilation openings clear of dust and debris. Periodically inspect and clean the fan if accessible and necessary, ensuring the unit is powered off and unplugged.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the power supply in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Inspection: Periodically check the power cord and test leads for any signs of damage. Replace if necessary.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your power supply, refer to the table below for common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power / Display off | Power cord not connected; Power switch off; No AC power. | Check power cord connection; Ensure power switch is ON; Verify AC outlet has power. |
| No output voltage/current | Output terminals not connected; Voltage/current set to zero; OVP/OCP active. | Connect load correctly; Adjust voltage/current knobs; Check for OVP/OCP indicators and resolve fault. |
| C.C indicator always on | Load resistance too low; Current limit set too low. | Increase current limit; Check load for short circuit or very low resistance. |
| Unit overheats | Blocked ventilation; Prolonged operation at high load. | Ensure vents are clear; Reduce load or operate in a cooler environment. |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact customer support.
