3. Setup and Installation
3.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove all packaging materials, including tape and protective films. Inspect the freezer for any shipping damage. Report any damage to your retailer immediately. Keep packaging materials until you are satisfied with the product.
3.2 Location Requirements
Place the freezer on a flat, stable surface strong enough to support the unit when fully loaded. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight or near heat sources such as stoves, radiators, or heating vents. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit. Maintain at least 4 inches (10 cm) of space from walls and other appliances for proper air circulation and heat dissipation.

3.3 Leveling the Freezer
Your freezer must be level for proper operation. Use the adjustable feet at the bottom of the freezer to level the unit. Rotate the feet clockwise to raise and counter-clockwise to lower. A level freezer ensures proper door sealing, efficient cooling, and minimizes operational noise.

3.4 Reversing the Door Hinge (Optional)
The door hinge can be reversed to open from the left or right side, depending on your installation space and preference. This process requires specific tools and careful handling. Refer to the detailed instructions in the separate door reversal guide (if provided) or contact customer support for assistance. It is recommended to have this procedure performed by a qualified technician if you are unsure.

3.5 Power Connection
Before plugging in the freezer, allow it to stand upright for at least 2-4 hours. This allows the refrigerant fluids to settle, preventing potential damage to the cooling system. Connect the freezer to a dedicated, grounded electrical outlet with the correct voltage and frequency as specified on the rating label. Do not use extension cords or adapter plugs, as they can pose a fire hazard and reduce performance.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Temperature Control
Your freezer is equipped with a 7-grade temperature control dial located inside the unit. Rotate the dial to adjust the temperature setting according to your needs.
- Settings 1-3: Provide normal freezing temperatures, suitable for general frozen food storage.
- Settings 4-7: Provide deeper freezing temperatures, ideal for rapid freezing or long-term storage of sensitive items.
The approximate temperature range is 6.8°F to -7.6°F (-14°C to -22°C). Allow several hours for the internal temperature to stabilize after making an adjustment.

4.2 Loading the Freezer
Do not overload the freezer. For optimal performance, leave sufficient space between items to allow for proper air circulation. This helps maintain consistent temperatures throughout the compartment and ensures efficient freezing of new items. Avoid blocking the air vents inside the freezer.
4.3 Energy Saving Tips
- Minimize Door Openings: Avoid frequent or prolonged door openings to prevent warm air from entering and cold air from escaping.
- Check Door Seal: Regularly inspect and clean the door gasket to ensure a tight seal. A compromised seal can lead to energy loss and frost buildup.
- Cool Food Before Freezing: Allow hot food to cool to room temperature before placing it in the freezer. Adding hot food significantly increases the internal temperature and requires more energy to cool down.
- Defrost Regularly: Defrost the freezer when the ice buildup reaches approximately 0.2 inches (5 mm) thick. Excessive frost acts as an insulator, reducing cooling efficiency.
- Proper Placement: Ensure the freezer is located in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular maintenance and cleaning will help ensure the longevity and efficient operation of your LHRIVER upright freezer.
5.1 Cleaning the Interior
Always unplug the freezer before cleaning. Remove all food items and shelves. Use a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent and warm water solution. Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or sharp objects, as they can damage the interior surfaces. Rinse the interior with clean water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth before plugging the unit back in.
5.2 Defrosting
Frost will naturally accumulate inside the freezer over time. Defrost the unit when the frost layer is approximately 0.2 inches (5 mm) thick to maintain optimal performance and energy efficiency. To defrost:
- Unplug the freezer from the power outlet.
- Remove all food items and store them in another freezer, cooler, or insulated bags to keep them frozen.
- Leave the freezer door open to allow the frost to melt naturally. Place towels or a shallow pan at the bottom of the freezer to collect melting water.
- Once all frost has melted, clean and dry the interior thoroughly as described in Section 5.1.
- Plug the freezer back in and allow it to reach its set temperature before returning food items.
Do not use sharp objects or heating devices to speed up the defrosting process, as this can damage the freezer.
5.3 Cleaning the Exterior
Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution. For stainless steel surfaces, use a specialized stainless steel cleaner and polish in the direction of the grain. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
5.4 Power Outage
In the event of a power outage, keep the freezer door closed as much as possible. This will help maintain the internal temperature and keep food frozen for a longer period. The duration food remains frozen depends on the ambient temperature and how full the freezer is. A full freezer will retain cold longer than a partially filled one.
