Setup and Installation

These casters are designed for easy plate mounting. Follow these steps for secure installation:

  1. Prepare the Mounting Surface: Ensure the surface where the casters will be mounted is flat, clean, and strong enough to support the combined weight of the item and its contents.
  2. Mark Drilling Points: Place the caster's mounting plate on the desired installation spot. Use a pencil or marker to mark the positions of the four mounting holes.
  3. Drill Pilot Holes: Using an appropriate drill bit size for your screws, drill pilot holes at the marked points. Ensure the holes are deep enough for the screws.
  4. Attach Casters: Align the caster's mounting plate with the drilled holes. Insert the provided screws through the holes and secure them with the nuts from the underside. Tighten all screws firmly to ensure the caster is stable.
  5. Repeat for All Casters: Install all four casters, ensuring that the two casters with brakes are positioned on the same side or diagonal corners for effective braking.

Important: For optimal stability and load distribution, it is recommended to use all four casters provided in the set.

Operating Instructions

Brake Mechanism

Two of the casters in the set are equipped with a total lock mechanism. This brake system simultaneously locks both the wheel's rotation and the swivel plate, ensuring the item remains securely in place and prevents accidental movement.

  • To Engage Brake: Press down firmly on the lever located on the side of the braked caster until it clicks into place. This will lock both the wheel and the swivel.
  • To Release Brake: Lift the lever upwards until it disengages. The wheel and swivel will then be free to move.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance will prolong the life and performance of your HOLKIE casters:

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the wheels and swivel mechanisms to remove dust, dirt, hair, or debris that may hinder smooth operation. Use a damp cloth and mild detergent if necessary.
  • Lubrication: For optimal performance, apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the swivel bearings and wheel axles every 6-12 months, or as needed, especially in dusty or damp environments.
  • Inspection: Regularly check all mounting screws and nuts for tightness. Re-tighten if any looseness is detected. Inspect the wheels for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage. Replace damaged casters immediately.
  • Load Capacity: Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 450 kg for the set of four casters. Overloading can lead to premature wear or failure.
