4. Setup and Preparation

4.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the breast pump motor unit. Connect the Type-C charging cable to the pump and a 5V-1A power adapter. Charge for approximately 2.5 hours until the battery icon on the display shows a full and constant solid status.

4.2 Disassembly for Cleaning

Disassemble all washable parts of the breast pump before cleaning. The main motor unit is NOT washable.

Washable parts include: Silicone Diaphragm, Tee fitting, Duckbill valve, Breast Shield, and Milk Collector. The Pump Motor is non-washable.

4.3 Washing and Sanitizing

Wash all washable parts before the first use and after each subsequent use. Sanitize all washable parts before first use and once daily with boiled water or a steam/sanitizer pot. Sanitize with water at ≤100 °C (212 °F) temperature for 5-10 minutes. Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembly.

4.4 Assembly Instructions

Follow these steps to correctly assemble your Lulia Hands-Free Breast Pump:

  1. Step 1: Connect the suction bowl to the tee fitting and install the duckbill valve at the bottom of the tee fitting. Ensure it is fully seated.
  2. Step 2: Attach the tee fitting to the flange. Make sure the tee fitting and flange are aligned as marked and pushed in firmly. The suction bowl and tee fitting must be aligned according to the marked lines.
  3. Step 3: Align the flange with the milk bowl at the position of the central milk inlet. The flange and milk bowl need to be aligned with the milk pouring spout for installation. Press firmly on the middle part of the flange to ensure the suction bowl fully enters within the marked line. The suction bowl must be fully pushed into the marked line to achieve a sealing effect.
  4. Step 4: Gently press the edge of the flange until it is tightly sealed.
  5. Step 5: Finally, align the main unit (motor) with the protruding port on the milk bowl for installation.

4.5 Choosing the Correct Flange Size

Selecting the correct flange size is crucial for comfort and efficient milk expression. Use the provided measurement card to determine your nipple size. The Lulia pump comes with flange inserts in 17mm, 19mm, 21mm, and 24mm sizes to ensure a proper fit.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Wearing the Breast Pump

For discreet and hands-free pumping, wear the assembled breast pump inside your bra. Ensure your nipple is centered within the flange and adjust your bra strap to keep the pump snug against your breast without any gaps.

5.2 Pumping Modes and Levels

The Lulia breast pump offers 4 modes and 9 suction levels to customize your pumping experience for comfort and efficiency. Use the control buttons on the motor unit to select your desired mode and adjust suction intensity.

  • Massage Mode: Helps stimulate milk let-down.
  • Comfort Mode: Provides comfortable pumping and effectively empties your breasts.
  • Suction Mode: Strong and deep suction to remove milk.
  • Mixed Mode: Promotes milk expression in a shorter time.

The pump features a memory function that automatically saves your commonly used settings for the next use. It also has an intelligent timing function that records pumping time and automatically turns off after 30 minutes of operation by default.

5.3 Pouring Out Breast Milk

Once you have finished pumping, carefully remove the breast pump from your bra. Disassemble the motor unit from the milk collector. Pour the expressed milk into a bottle or milk storage bag from the designated milk outlet. Ensure you pour from the correct spout to avoid spills.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and hygiene of your Lulia breast pump.

  • Cleaning: Always disassemble and wash all washable parts immediately after each use as described in Section 4.3.
  • Sanitizing: Sanitize parts daily or as recommended in Section 4.3.
  • Drying: Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembly and storage to prevent mold and bacterial growth.
  • Storage: Store the clean and dry breast pump and its components in a clean, dry place, preferably in the provided storage bag.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect silicone parts (diaphragm, duckbill valve, tee fitting) for any signs of wear, tears, or damage. Replace parts as needed to maintain optimal suction and hygiene.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Lulia Hands-Free Breast Pump, please refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

Pump Not Turning On
  • Battery is depleted.
  • Charging cable or adapter issue.
  • Charge the pump for at least 2.5 hours.
  • Try a different Type-C cable or power adapter.
Uncomfortable Pumping
  • Incorrect flange size.
  • Suction level is too high.
  • Re-evaluate flange size using the measurement card.
  • Reduce the suction level to a comfortable setting.
