2. Important Safety Instructions

To prevent accidents and ensure proper machine function, always follow these safety guidelines:

  1. Always disconnect the machine from the power source when changing the needle or performing maintenance.
  2. Children must use the device under adult supervision. This machine is not a toy.
  3. Never operate the machine if there is thread in the needle but no fabric under the presser foot. This can damage the machine.
  4. When the sewing machine is not in use, ensure it is switched off and unplugged from the power outlet.
  5. Store the machine in a dry and well-ventilated area.
  6. Only disassemble the machine if you are a qualified professional.
  7. The power adapter and batteries cannot be used simultaneously.

4. Setup

4.1 Power Supply

Your MEGLE FHSM-505 can be powered in two ways:

  • AC/DC Adapter: Connect the included power adapter to the machine's power input and then to a wall outlet.
  • Batteries: Insert 4 AA batteries (not included) into the battery compartment. Ensure correct polarity.

Important: Do not use the AC/DC adapter and batteries simultaneously.

4.2 Threading the Machine

Proper threading is crucial for smooth operation. Follow the threading path indicated on the machine. Use the needle threader by inserting it through the needle eye from back to front, then pass the thread through the loop and pull it through the needle eye.

4.3 Stitch Selection and Length Adjustment

The machine offers 12 different stitch types, including straight, decorative, blind hem, and zigzag stitches. Select your desired stitch using the rotary dial on the front of the machine.

Adjust the stitch length using the dedicated dial to suit your fabric and desired stitch density. Refer to the guide below for recommended settings:

  • Pure Cotton: Use setting NO.4
  • Denim: Use setting NO.5
  • Silk: Use setting NO.2 or NO.3
  • Linen: Use setting NO.5

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Starting and Stopping

You can operate the machine using either the manual switch or the foot pedal. Press the switch or the foot pedal to start sewing, and release/press again to stop.

5.2 Forward and Reverse Sewing

The machine supports both forward and reverse sewing. Use the reverse function button to reinforce stitches at the beginning and end of seams.

5.3 Automatic Thread Rewinding

The MEGLE FHSM-505 features an automatic thread rewinding function, simplifying the bobbin preparation process.

5.4 Sewing Sleeves and Cuffs

The machine's design allows for easy sewing of sleeves and cuffs by removing the accessory storage compartment to create a free arm.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your sewing machine.

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean lint and dust from the bobbin area and feed dogs using a small brush. Always unplug the machine before cleaning.
  • Storage: Store the machine in a dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Needle Replacement: Change the needle regularly, especially when sewing different fabric types or if the needle becomes dull or bent. Always disconnect power before changing the needle.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your sewing machine, consider the following general advice:

  • Machine Not Starting: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected or that batteries are correctly inserted and charged. Check if the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
  • Skipped Stitches: This can often be resolved by changing the needle, re-threading the machine, or ensuring the correct stitch length and tension for your fabric.
  • Thread Breaking: Check for proper threading, ensure the thread is not tangled, and that the needle is inserted correctly and is not bent or dull. Adjust thread tension if necessary.
  • Fabric Not Feeding: Ensure the presser foot is lowered and the feed dogs are engaged. Clean any lint from the feed dog area.
