4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the safety and performance of your solar power system. It is highly recommended to engage certified solar installers for this process.

4.1 Site Selection

  • Solar Panels: Choose a location with maximum sun exposure throughout the day, free from shading by trees or buildings. Consider roof mounting or ground mounting options.
  • Inverter and Batteries: Install the inverter and batteries in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, flammable materials, and moisture. Ensure adequate clearance for air circulation and maintenance access.

4.2 Mounting Solar Panels

  • Install appropriate racking systems suitable for your chosen location (roof or ground).
  • Securely mount each solar panel according to the racking system manufacturer's instructions and local building codes.
  • Ensure proper tilt and azimuth for optimal energy harvesting.

4.3 Electrical Connections

All wiring must comply with national and local electrical codes. Use appropriately sized cables and circuit breakers.

  • Solar Panel Wiring: Connect solar panels in series and/or parallel configurations as specified by the inverter's input voltage and current requirements. Use MC4 connectors for secure and waterproof connections.
  • Battery Connection: Connect the LiFePO4 batteries to the inverter's battery terminals. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
  • AC Output Connection: Connect the inverter's AC output to your home's electrical panel or designated load center. The inverter supports both split-phase 240Vac and single-phase 120Vac.
  • Grid Connection (Optional): If connecting to the utility grid, ensure proper anti-islanding protection and compliance with grid-tie regulations.
  • Grounding: Properly ground all system components to prevent electrical hazards.
