3. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to correctly set up your vidaXL Family Tent. It is recommended to practice setting up the tent in a familiar environment before your first trip.

  1. Choose a Site: Select a flat, clear area free of sharp objects, and away from potential hazards like falling branches or flood zones.
  2. Unpack and Lay Out: Remove the tent from its carry bag and spread the main tent body flat on the ground. Identify the door and porch areas.
  3. Assemble Poles: Connect the fiberglass pole sections. Insert the poles into the designated sleeves on the tent fabric.
  4. Raise the Tent: Arch the poles and secure them into the pin-and-ring system at the base of the tent. This will raise the tent structure.
  5. Attach Flysheet: Drape the waterproof flysheet over the main tent body, aligning the doors and windows. Secure it to the tent poles and base using the attached clips or ties.
  6. Stake Down: Use the tent pegs to firmly secure all corners and guy ropes to the ground. Ensure guy ropes are taut to provide stability.
  7. Set Up Porch: If applicable, extend and support the porch area with additional poles and guy ropes as needed.

4.2. Internal Organization

  • Divider Curtains: Use the included divider curtains to create separate rooms within the tent for privacy.
  • Storage Bags: Utilize the internal storage bags for organizing small items like phones, flashlights, or personal belongings.
  • Lamp Ring: A dedicated lamp ring is provided at the top of the tent for hanging a lantern or light source.

4.4. Detachable Flap

The detachable flap can be used to provide additional weather protection or privacy, depending on your setup and needs.

5. Maintenance

Proper care and maintenance will extend the life of your tent and ensure its performance.

  • Cleaning: After each use, clean the tent with a soft brush or sponge and mild soap. Do not use harsh detergents or washing machines. Rinse thoroughly with water.
  • Drying: Always ensure the tent is completely dry before packing it away. Packing a wet tent can lead to mildew and damage to the waterproof coating. Air dry in a shaded area.
  • Storage: Store the tent in its carry bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Waterproofing: The tent features a PU coating and taped seams for comprehensive waterproofing. Periodically inspect seams for wear and re-seal if necessary with a seam sealer product (not included).

6. Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:

  • Leaking: Ensure all zippers are fully closed. Check for any tears in the fabric or worn seam tape. Re-apply seam sealer if needed. Ensure the flysheet is properly tensioned and not touching the inner tent.
  • Condensation: Condensation is natural. Improve ventilation by opening windows or doors slightly. Avoid cooking inside the tent.
  • Tent Not Stable: Ensure all poles are correctly inserted and secured. All guy ropes must be taut and pegged firmly into the ground. Adjust tension as needed.
  • Zipper Issues: If a zipper snags, gently pull the fabric away from the zipper teeth. Do not force it. Keep zippers clean and lubricated if necessary.
