Remote Sensors

Each remote sensor wirelessly transmits temperature and humidity data to the main unit. They are designed for versatile placement and are clearly labeled for easy identification (Sensor 1, 2, 3).

Setup Guide

1. Powering the Main Unit

The main unit can be powered by either a USB cable or 3 AA batteries (not included).

  • USB Power: For continuous backlight, connect the provided USB cable to the main unit and a USB power adapter (not included).
  • Battery Power: Insert 3 AA batteries into the battery compartment, observing polarity. The backlight will automatically turn off after 10 seconds to conserve energy.

2. Installing Batteries in Remote Sensors

Each remote sensor requires 2 AA batteries (not included). Open the battery compartment on the back of each sensor and insert the batteries, observing polarity.

The main unit can be powered via USB for continuous backlight or with 3 AA batteries. Each remote sensor requires 2 AA batteries.

3. Initial Synchronization

Once powered, the main unit will automatically search for and connect to the remote sensors. Ensure sensors are within range during initial setup. The corresponding sensor channel on the main unit's display will show readings once connected.

Operating Instructions

Display Overview

The color LCD display provides a clear overview of all monitored data, including indoor temperature and humidity, readings from up to three remote sensors, weather forecast, and atmospheric pressure.

This image points out key display elements such as sensor readings, indoor temperature/humidity, weather forecast, air pressure, and alert indicators.

Adjusting Backlight

The main unit features 3 adjustable backlight settings (High, Low, Off). Press the "Light" button on the top of the unit to cycle through the brightness levels. When powered by USB, the backlight can remain continuously on.

The display offers 100%, 50%, and 0% backlight options, adjustable via the light button. Continuous backlight is available when powered by USB.

Temperature and Humidity Alarms

You can set custom high and low temperature and humidity alerts for each channel (indoor and three outdoor sensors). When readings exceed or fall below your preset values, the unit will provide an audible and/or visual alert. Refer to the detailed instructions in the included manual for setting specific alarm thresholds.

The weather station supports 3-channel temperature and humidity alarms, useful for monitoring various environments like kitchens, incubators, greenhouses, and wineries.

Weather Forecast

The station predicts weather conditions for the next 12 hours based on atmospheric pressure changes. Icons for Sunny, Partly Cloudy, Overcast, Rain, and Thunderstorm are displayed. An ice alarm (snowflake icon) will flash if the temperature is between 33.8°F and 30.2°F, and remain steady if below 30.2°F for an extended period, indicating frost risk.

Icons representing five weather forecast modes: Sunny, Partly Cloudy, Overcast, Rain, Thunderstorm

The weather station provides a 5-mode weather forecast for the next 12 hours, including indicators for sunny, partly cloudy, overcast, rain, and thunderstorm conditions.

Max/Min Records and Trend Indicators

The unit records maximum and minimum temperature and humidity values over a 24-hour period. Trend arrows indicate whether temperature and humidity are rising, falling, or remaining stable, providing insight into environmental changes.

This graphic shows how the weather station tracks and displays maximum and minimum temperature and humidity values over a 24-hour cycle, along with trend arrows.

Unit Selection (Fahrenheit/Celsius, inHg/hPa)

The temperature can be displayed in Fahrenheit (°F) or Celsius (°C). Atmospheric pressure can be displayed in inHg or hPa. Refer to the full manual for instructions on changing these units to your preferred setting.

Placement Guidelines

Main Unit Placement

Place the main unit indoors in a central location, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, or drafts that could affect its indoor readings. It can be placed on a flat surface using its durable stand or mounted on a wall using the hanging hole.

The main unit offers two installation methods: a hanging hole for wall mounting and a durable stand for tabletop placement.

Remote Sensor Placement

For optimal accuracy and signal transmission, place remote sensors vertically and avoid direct exposure to sunlight, rain, or snow. Keep them off the ground. The sensors have a wireless range of up to 500 feet (150 meters) from the main unit. Consider placing sensors in areas like a garden, garage, or other rooms to monitor specific conditions.

The three remote sensors allow monitoring of temperature and humidity in up to three distinct areas, such as outdoor environments, plant rooms, or other indoor spaces.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and accuracy of your weather station, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Clean the display and sensor casings with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals.
  • Replace batteries in the main unit and sensors promptly when the low battery indicator appears to ensure continuous and accurate operation.
  • Ensure remote sensors are protected from extreme weather conditions if placed outdoors, as they are designed to be weather-resistant but not fully waterproof.

Troubleshooting

No Signal from Remote Sensor

  • Check Batteries: Ensure batteries are correctly installed and not depleted in both the main unit and the sensor.
  • Range: Move the sensor closer to the main unit to confirm it's within the 500ft wireless range. Obstacles like thick walls can reduce range.
  • Interference: Avoid placing sensors near large metal objects or strong electronic devices that may cause wireless interference.
  • Resynchronize: If issues persist, try removing and reinserting batteries in both the main unit and the problematic sensor to force a resynchronization.

Inaccurate Readings

  • Sensor Placement: Ensure sensors are not in direct sunlight, near heat sources (e.g., vents, appliances), or exposed to rain/snow. Place them vertically in a shaded, well-ventilated area for outdoor readings.
  • Calibration: While the sensors are designed for high accuracy, if you suspect a significant discrepancy, compare readings with a known accurate thermometer/hygrometer in the same location.
