5. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the machine and all accessories from the packaging.
  2. Placement: Place the machine on a stable, level surface away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Ensure adequate ventilation.
  3. Water Tank: Fill the 64 fl. oz water tank with fresh, cold water. If desired, install the Mavea water filter as per its instructions.
  4. Bean Container: Open the lid of the 9.5 oz coffee beans container and fill it with your preferred whole coffee beans.
  5. Milk Hose: Connect the integrated milk hose to the designated port on the machine and place the other end into a milk carton or container.
  6. Initial Rinse: Follow the on-screen prompts for the initial rinse cycle to prepare the machine for first use.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Making Coffee/Espresso

  1. Turn On: Press the power button to turn on the machine.
  2. Select Beverage: Use the intuitive touch control panel to select your desired drink (e.g., Espresso, Coffee, Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato). More options are available under the 'More' button.
  3. Customize Settings: Adjust coffee strength (mild, regular, strong, very strong), cup size (fl. oz), and temperature using the on-screen options.
  4. Double Cup Function: For two servings, select the double cup icon before brewing.
  5. Ground Coffee: If using pre-ground coffee, open the ground coffee chute, add one scoop, and select the 'Ground Coffee' option on the display.
  6. Start Brewing: Place your cup(s) under the dispenser and press the 'Start/Stop' button.

6.2. Using the Milk System

The integrated milk system allows for easy preparation of milk-based beverages:

  1. Ensure the milk hose is properly connected and placed into your milk source.
  2. Select a milk-based drink (e.g., Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato) from the menu.
  3. The machine will automatically froth and dispense milk as part of the brewing process.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning the Brewing Unit

Regular cleaning of the brewing unit is crucial for optimal coffee quality and machine longevity:

  1. Turn off the machine and open the brewing chamber door.
  2. Remove the drip tray and coffee grounds container.
  3. Press the red lever above the brewing unit, then hold the handle on the brewing unit and pull it forward and out of the machine.
  4. Rinse the brewing unit thoroughly under warm running water. Do not use soap or cleaning agents. Gently move the brewing head up and down to clean all parts.
  5. Thoroughly dry the brewing unit and wipe down the inside of the machine with a damp cloth.
  6. Reinsert the dry brewing unit, coffee grounds container, and drip tray. Close the chamber door.

7.2. Calc'n Clean Program

The Calc'n Clean program combines descaling and cleaning in one cycle. The machine will prompt you when this process is due:

  1. Have Bosch cleaning and descaling tablets ready.
  2. Activate the 'Calc'n Clean' program from the 'Cleanings and care' menu on the display.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts: empty and clean the drip tray, dissolve one descaling tablet in 500ml (17oz) of warm water, and pour the mixture into the water tank.
  4. Place a 1L (34oz) container under the water dispenser to collect the cleaning water.
  5. The machine will guide you through the entire descaling and cleaning process.
  6. Once complete, empty, rinse, and reinsert the drip tray. Drop one cleaning tablet into the ground coffee compartment when prompted.

7.3. General Cleaning

  • AutoMilk Clean: The machine automatically steam cleans the milk system after every milk-based beverage.
  • Dishwasher-Safe Parts: Many parts of the machine are dishwasher safe for convenient cleaning. Refer to the detailed manual for specific components.
