5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Understanding the Display

The color LCD display provides real-time readings for various air quality parameters. Refer to the image below for an example of the display layout:

Figure 5: Monitor display with various air quality readings and a USB cable.

  • PM2.5, PM1.0, PM10: Particulate Matter readings in µg/m³. These indicate the concentration of fine airborne particles.
  • CO2: Carbon Dioxide concentration in ppm (parts per million). High CO2 levels can indicate poor ventilation.
  • TVOC: Total Volatile Organic Compounds in mg/m³. These are various chemicals that can be emitted from paints, cleaning supplies, etc.
  • HCHO: Formaldehyde concentration in mg/m³.
  • TEMP: Temperature reading, typically in °F or °C.
  • HUMI: Humidity percentage.
  • Color Bar Indicator: A color-coded bar at the bottom of the display often indicates overall air quality (e.g., green for good, yellow for moderate, red for poor).

5.2 Calibration

The monitor supports one-click calibration for its sensors. To calibrate, quickly press the power button 3 or 6 times. This process helps ensure the accuracy of the sensor readings over time. It is recommended to perform calibration in a well-ventilated outdoor environment for best results.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Do not use liquid cleaners, aerosols, or solvents, as these can damage the sensors or casing.
  • Sensor Care: Avoid blocking the ventilation holes on the device, as this can impede air circulation and affect sensor accuracy. Do not insert any objects into the sensor openings.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the device frequently. Recharge the monitor when the battery indicator shows low power. If storing the device for an extended period, charge it periodically to prevent deep discharge.
  • Storage: Store the monitor in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
