2. Important Safety Instructions

4. Setup and First Use

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the coffee maker from its packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
2. Placement: Place the machine on a stable, flat, and dry surface, away from heat sources and water splashes.
3. Cleaning: Before first use, wash the water tank, cup support grid, used capsule drawer, and drip tray with warm water and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.
4. Fill Water Tank: Fill the water tank with fresh, potable water up to the MAX level. Place the tank back onto the machine securely.
5. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
6. Initial Rinse Cycle:
   • Place a large container (at least 20 oz) under the coffee dispenser.
   • Press either the Espresso or Lungo button. The machine will start heating up. The buttons will flash during heating and become steady when ready.
   • Once ready, press the Lungo button (larger cup icon) to run a full water cycle without a capsule. This primes the system and cleans internal components.
   • Repeat this process 2-3 times until clear water flows out.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Brewing Coffee

1. Ensure the water tank is filled with fresh water.
2. Turn on the machine by pressing any button. Wait for the buttons to stop flashing and become steady, indicating the machine is heated and ready.
3. Lift the lever to open the capsule compartment.
4. Insert one Lavazza Expert capsule into the compartment. Close the lever firmly.
5. Place your cup on the cup support grid. Adjust the grid height if necessary.
6. Press the desired brewing button:
   • Espresso Button: For a short, concentrated coffee (approx. 1.35 oz / 40 ml).
   • Lungo Button: For a longer coffee (approx. 3.7 oz / 110 ml).
7. The machine will automatically stop when the selected volume is dispensed.
8. After brewing, lift the lever again to automatically eject the used capsule into the used capsule drawer. Close the lever.

5.2 Programming Coffee Volume

You can customize the volume for each button:

1. Ensure the machine is on and ready (buttons steady).
2. Insert a capsule and place a cup under the dispenser.
3. Press and hold the button you wish to program (Espresso or Lungo).
4. Release the button when the desired coffee volume has been dispensed into your cup. The new volume is now saved for that button.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

• Drip Tray and Used Capsule Drawer: Empty and rinse daily. Wash with warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly.
• Water Tank: Rinse daily and refill with fresh water. Wash with warm, soapy water weekly.
• Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

6.2 Descaling

Descaling is crucial to remove mineral buildup and maintain machine efficiency. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage, but generally every 3-6 months.

1. Empty the water tank, drip tray, and used capsule drawer.
2. Fill the water tank with a descaling solution (e.g., a mixture of water and white vinegar, or a commercial descaler, following product instructions).
3. Place a large container (at least 20 oz) under the coffee dispenser.
4. Turn on the machine. Once heated, press the Lungo button and let the entire descaling solution run through.
5. Repeat the process with clean water 2-3 times to rinse the machine thoroughly and remove any descaling solution residue.
