5. Setup and Installation

The VEVOR JW-V50 features an EZ mount twist-and-lock installation system for quick and secure setup. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Prepare the Sink: Ensure the sink drain opening is clean and free of debris. If replacing an old disposal, remove the existing unit and mounting hardware.
  2. Disassemble Mounting Ring and Flange: Separate the mounting ring, support ring, and fiber gasket from the sink flange.
  3. Install Sink Flange: Apply plumber's putty around the underside of the sink flange. Insert the flange into the sink drain opening.
  4. Secure Mounting Assembly: From underneath the sink, slide the fiber gasket, backup flange, and mounting ring onto the sink flange. Secure with the screws provided, ensuring a tight seal.
  5. Connect Drainage Pipe: Attach the drain elbow to the disposal unit. Connect the disposal's drain outlet to your household drain pipe using the provided connector and sealing rings.
  6. Attach Disposal to Mounting Assembly: Align the disposal unit with the mounting ring. Twist the disposal until it locks securely into place with the 3-point locking mechanism.
  7. Electrical Connection: Connect the disposal to a grounded electrical outlet. If hardwiring, ensure power is off at the circuit breaker and follow local electrical codes.
  8. Test for Leaks: Fill the sink with water and then drain it through the disposal to check for any leaks.

6. Operating Instructions

The VEVOR JW-V50 is a continuous feed disposal, meaning it operates while food waste is being fed into it.

  1. Turn on Cold Water: Before turning on the disposal, run a strong stream of cold water into the sink. Continue running cold water for a few seconds after the grinding is complete.
  2. Turn on Disposal: Flip the wall switch or press the air switch to activate the disposal.
  3. Feed Food Waste: Gradually feed food waste into the disposal opening. Do not overload the unit.
  4. Grinding Process: The disposal will grind the food waste into fine particles that are flushed away with the water.
  5. Turn off Disposal: Once all waste is ground and only the sound of water and the motor is heard, turn off the disposal.
  6. Flush: Continue running cold water for approximately 15 seconds to flush the drain line thoroughly.

Note: The disposal features a One-Button Reset located on the bottom of the unit. If the disposal stops operating, check for jams, clear them, and then press the reset button.

7. Maintenance

  • Regular Cleaning: To keep the disposal clean and odor-free, grind citrus peels (lemon, orange) periodically.
  • Deep Cleaning: For a deeper clean, fill the disposal with ice cubes and a cup of rock salt. Run cold water and turn on the disposal until the ice and salt are gone. This helps to scour the grinding chamber.
  • Avoid Grease: Never pour grease or oil down the disposal, as it can solidify and clog pipes.
  • Check Splash Guard: Periodically inspect the splash guard for wear or damage and replace if necessary to maintain proper function and noise reduction.
