Setup
Battery Installation
Each FOREDOM J388C Walkie Talkie requires 4 x AAA batteries (not included). Ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the walkie talkie.
- Gently press outward on the snap to remove the belt clip.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert 4 AAA batteries, matching the +/- indicators.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
- Reattach the belt clip by pushing it upward until it snaps into place.

Attaching Lanyards
The included lanyards can be attached to the top of each walkie talkie for easy carrying and to prevent loss.

Operating Instructions
Power On/Off
- To power on: Press and hold the MENU/POWER button until the LCD screen lights up.
- To power off: Press and hold the MENU/POWER button until the LCD screen turns off.
Adjusting Volume
Use the UP (▲) and DOWN (▼) buttons to adjust the speaker volume to your desired level.
Changing Channels (22 Channels)
The walkie talkies feature 22 channels for communication. To ensure privacy and clear communication, both walkie talkies must be on the same channel.
- Press the MENU button once. The channel number on the LCD screen will flash.
- Use the UP (▲) or DOWN (▼) buttons to select your desired channel (1-22).
- Press the PTT (Talk) button to confirm the setting.

Hands-Free VOX Function
The VOX (Voice Operated Exchange) function allows for hands-free communication. When activated, the walkie talkie will transmit automatically when it detects your voice, without needing to press the PTT button.
- Press the MENU button multiple times until "VOX" appears on the LCD screen.
- Use the UP (▲) or DOWN (▼) buttons to select the VOX sensitivity level (e.g., 1-3, with 3 being most sensitive) or to turn VOX off.
- Press the PTT (Talk) button to confirm the setting.
Using the Flashlight
Each walkie talkie is equipped with a built-in LED flashlight for visibility in low-light conditions.
- To turn on the flashlight: Press the LAMP button.
- To turn off the flashlight: Press the LAMP button again.

Call Alert Function
To send a call tone to the other walkie talkie, press the CALL/LOCK button briefly. This will alert the other user to an incoming message.
Keypad Lock
To prevent accidental changes to settings, you can lock the keypad.
- To lock the keypad: Press and hold the CALL/LOCK button until a key icon appears on the LCD screen.
- To unlock the keypad: Press and hold the CALL/LOCK button again until the key icon disappears.
Maintenance
