Setup
1. Battery Installation
The light meter requires 3 x AA 1.5V batteries for operation. To install or replace batteries:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
- Open the battery cover by sliding or unlatching it.
- Insert three AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery cover securely.
2. Attaching the Detachable Probe
The light sensor is connected via a coiled cable, allowing for flexible positioning:
- Ensure the coiled cable is securely plugged into the main unit's port.
- The probe can be rotated and positioned at various angles (0°, 45°, 90°, 180°) relative to the main unit for optimal light capture.

Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off
Press the ⏻ (Power) button to turn the device on. Press and hold the ⏻ button for a few seconds to turn it off.
2. Taking a Measurement
Once powered on, the device will automatically begin measuring light intensity. Position the light sensor probe towards the light source or area you wish to measure. The current illuminance reading will be displayed on the VA color screen.

3. Changing Measurement Units (Lux/Fc)
Press the Lux/Fc button to switch between Lux (lumens per square meter) and Foot-candle (lumens per square foot) units. The selected unit will be indicated on the display.
4. Data Hold Function
Press the HOLD button to freeze the current reading on the display. This is useful for recording measurements in difficult-to-view positions. Press the HOLD button again to resume live measurement.
5. MAX/MIN/AVG Modes
Press the MODE button to cycle through the following display modes:
- MAX: Displays the maximum light intensity recorded since the device was powered on or the mode was reset.
- MIN: Displays the minimum light intensity recorded.
- AVG: Displays the average light intensity recorded.
To reset the MAX/MIN/AVG values, power off the device or consult the full instruction manual for specific reset procedures if available.
6. Sound and Light Alarm
The device features a settable upper and lower limit for illuminance. If the measured value exceeds the upper limit or falls below the lower limit, the alarm light will illuminate, and an audible alarm may sound (depending on model and settings). This feature is useful for monitoring specific light conditions.

Refer to the detailed instruction manual for steps on how to set these alarm limits.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
To ensure accurate readings and prolong the life of your device:
- Wipe the meter's body with a soft, dry cloth.
- For the light sensor, use a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Do not immerse the device in water or any liquids.
2. Storage
When not in use for extended periods, store the light meter in its protective carrying case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if storing for more than one month to prevent leakage.
3. Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator on the display shows low power, replace all three AA batteries promptly to ensure continued accurate operation. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the Setup section.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on. | Low or dead batteries; incorrect battery polarity. | Replace batteries with new ones, ensuring correct +/- orientation. |
| Inaccurate or fluctuating readings. | Dirty light sensor; sensor not positioned correctly; strong electromagnetic interference. | Clean the light sensor with a soft cloth. Ensure the sensor is facing the light source directly. Move away from strong electrical devices. |
| Display shows "OL" or "LO". | Measurement is Over-Limit (OL) or Under-Limit (LO) of the device's range. | The light intensity is outside the measurable range. The device is functioning correctly but cannot provide a numerical reading for this extreme condition. |
| Alarm light is on constantly. | Current light level is outside the set alarm limits. | Adjust the alarm limits or move to an area with light intensity within the set range. |
