1. Introduction

3. Product Overview

Familiarize yourself with the various parts and controls of your walkie talkie:

  • Antenna: For signal transmission and reception.
  • Charging Port: USB port for recharging the internal battery.

4. Setup

4.1 Charging the Walkie Talkies

Your walkie talkies are equipped with non-removable rechargeable lithium batteries. Before first use, fully charge both units.

  1. Locate the USB charging port on the top of each walkie talkie, usually protected by a rubber flap.
  2. Open the rubber flap to expose the charging port.
  3. Connect the 2-in-1 USB charging cable to both walkie talkies.
  4. Plug the USB end of the cable into a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
  5. The battery indicator on the screen will show charging status. A full charge typically takes approximately 2.5 hours.
  6. Once fully charged, disconnect the cable and close the rubber flap to protect the port.

4.2 Powering On/Off

  • To power on: Press and hold the Power/Menu button until the screen lights up.
  • To power off: Press and hold the Power/Menu button until the screen turns off.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Selecting a Channel

Your walkie talkies have 22 available channels. Both units must be on the same channel to communicate.

  1. Press the Menu button once. The channel number on the screen will flash.
  2. Use the Up or Down buttons to select your desired channel (1-22).
  3. Press the PTT button to confirm your selection and exit the menu, or press Menu again to move to sub-channel settings.

5.2 Using Sub-Channels (CTCSS/DCS)

Sub-channels (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System / Digitally Coded Squelch) allow for private communication by filtering out unwanted transmissions on the same main channel. Both units must have the same main channel and sub-channel settings.

  1. After selecting your main channel (as described above), press the Menu button again. The sub-channel number will flash.
  2. Use the Up or Down buttons to select your desired sub-channel (1-99).
  3. Press the PTT button to confirm your selection.

5.3 Transmitting (Push-to-Talk - PTT)

  • To transmit: Press and hold the PTT button located on the side of the walkie talkie. Speak clearly into the microphone.
  • To receive: Release the PTT button.

5.4 Voice Activated Transmission (VOX)

The VOX feature allows for hands-free communication. When activated, the walkie talkie will automatically transmit when it detects your voice.

  1. Press the Menu button multiple times until the VOX icon appears on the screen.
  2. Use the Up or Down buttons to select a VOX sensitivity level (e.g., 1-3, with 3 being most sensitive). To disable VOX, select 'OFF'.
  3. Press the PTT button to confirm.

5.5 Using the Flashlight

The built-in flashlight provides convenient illumination.

  • To turn on/off: Press the Flashlight button (often shared with Scan/Monitor).

5.6 Sending a Call Tone

  • To send a call tone: Briefly press the Call Tone button (often shared with Keypad Lock). This sends an audible alert to other walkie talkies on the same channel.

5.7 Keypad Lock

The keypad lock prevents accidental button presses.

  • To lock/unlock: Press and hold the Call Tone / Keypad Lock button until the lock icon appears/disappears on the screen.

5.8 Adjusting Volume

  • Use the Up or Down buttons during normal operation (not in menu mode) to adjust the speaker volume.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Care

  • To maximize battery life, fully charge the walkie talkies before first use and whenever the low battery indicator appears.
  • Avoid completely draining the battery frequently.
  • If storing for an extended period, charge the batteries to about 50% and recharge every 3-6 months.

6.2 Cleaning

  • Wipe the walkie talkies with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ensure the charging port cover is securely closed to prevent dust and moisture ingress.
