Figure 2: Rear Panel of the SV-500 MK Amplifier. This image shows the back of the amplifier with its array of connection ports. From left to right, it includes the Bluetooth antenna, analog RCA inputs (S1, S2), digital inputs (Optical, Coaxial, HDMI ARC), RCA outputs (REC, PRE), power control jacks, speaker terminals, and the AC power inlet with a voltage selector switch.

  • BT.ANT: Connection point for the Bluetooth antenna.
  • Analog Inputs (S1, S2): Stereo RCA inputs for connecting analog audio sources like CD players or tuners.
  • Digital Inputs (Optical, Coaxial, HDMI w/ARC): For connecting digital audio sources such as TVs, Blu-ray players, or media streamers. The HDMI input supports Audio Return Channel (ARC).
  • REC Output: Stereo RCA output for connecting to a recording device.
  • PRE Output: Stereo RCA pre-amplifier output for connecting to a separate power amplifier or powered subwoofer.
  • Power Control (12V): 3.5mm jacks for connecting to other Vincent components for synchronized power on/off.
  • Speaker Terminals: Binding posts for connecting passive loudspeakers (4-8 Ohm impedance).
  • Voltage Selector: Switch to select between 115V and 230V AC power. Ensure this is set correctly for your region before connecting power.
  • AC INLET: Connection for the main power cord.

Setup

1. Unpacking and Placement

Carefully remove the amplifier from its packaging. Place the amplifier on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and moisture. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for proper ventilation (at least 10-15 cm on all sides and top).

2. Connecting Speakers

Connect your passive loudspeakers to the speaker terminals on the rear panel. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) for both channels. The SV-500 MK supports speakers with an impedance of 4-8 Ohms. Use high-quality speaker cables for optimal sound performance.

3. Connecting Audio Sources

  • Analog Sources (RCA): Connect your analog audio devices (e.g., CD player, tuner) to the S1 or S2 RCA input jacks using stereo RCA cables.
  • Digital Sources (Optical, Coaxial): Connect digital audio devices to the corresponding Optical or Coaxial input jacks.
  • HDMI w/ARC: Connect your TV's HDMI ARC output to the amplifier's HDMI ARC input. Ensure ARC is enabled on your TV.
  • Bluetooth: Screw the provided Bluetooth antenna into the BT.ANT connector on the rear panel.

4. Power Connection

Before connecting the power cord, verify that the Voltage Selector switch on the rear panel is set to the correct voltage for your region (115V or 230V). Once confirmed, connect the supplied power cord to the AC INLET on the amplifier and then to a suitable wall outlet.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off

Press the Power Button on the front panel to turn the amplifier on. The indicator light will illuminate. Press it again to turn the amplifier off.

2. Input Selection

Rotate the Input Selector knob on the front panel to choose the audio source you wish to listen to (S1, S2, BT, OPT, COAX, HDMI ARC). The corresponding indicator light will show the active input.

3. Volume Control

Adjust the listening volume using the large Volume Control knob. Turn clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Start with a low volume setting before playing audio to avoid sudden loud sounds.

4. Tone Controls

The SV-500 MK features Bass and Treble tone controls. Use the Bass Control knob to adjust low frequencies and the Treble Control knob for high frequencies. Press the Tone Control button to engage or bypass these controls. When bypassed, the audio signal is routed directly for the purest sound.

5. Headphone Use

Connect your headphones to the Phones Jack on the front panel. Connecting headphones will automatically mute the main speaker outputs.

6. Bluetooth Pairing

Select the "BT" input using the Input Selector. On your Bluetooth-enabled device (smartphone, tablet, etc.), search for available Bluetooth devices and select "Vincent SV-500 MK" to pair. Once paired, you can stream audio wirelessly to the amplifier.

7. Using Preamp Output

The PRE Output allows the SV-500 MK to function as a standalone tube pre-amplifier. Connect this output to a separate power amplifier or powered subwoofer for expanded system configurations.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the power cord before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings on the amplifier are not obstructed. Proper airflow is crucial for preventing overheating and ensuring long-term reliability.
  • Tube Care: The vacuum tubes inside the amplifier have a finite lifespan. While replacement is typically not required frequently, consult a qualified technician if you suspect tube degradation or failure.
  • Storage: If storing the amplifier for an extended period, disconnect it from power and store it in a cool, dry place, preferably in its original packaging.
