1. Product Overview

The Ruitutedianzi QRP 5M/16.4FT HF Antenna is a versatile and portable antenna designed for amateur radio enthusiasts. 3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to set up your Ruitutedianzi HF Antenna:

3.1. Antenna Base Unit (Unun)

The antenna base unit features a 64:1 unun housed in a weatherproof case. It includes an SO-239 connector for your coaxial cable and threaded inserts for connecting the radiating wire and optional counterpoise.

3.2. Connecting the Radiating Wire

The radiating wire attaches to the threaded insert on the right side of the unun. The wire is looped through a strain relief point and secured with a zip tie. The far end of the radiating wire has an egg insulator for tying off.

3.3. Optional Counterpoise Connection

A Phillips head screw near the SO-239 connector is provided for attaching an optional counterpoise wire. This can help optimize performance, especially in portable setups.

3.4. Deployment

The antenna can be deployed in various configurations, such as a sloper or horizontal wire. Ensure the radiating wire is clear of obstructions. For optimal performance, avoid hanging the unun more than 20 degrees from the vertical to prevent water ingress at the connection point.

4. Operating Instructions

This antenna is designed for multi-band operation across 80, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, and 10 meters. The 64:1 unun helps match the antenna to your transceiver.

4.1. Power Limits

• SSB (Single Sideband): < 150W
• CW (Continuous Wave): < 120W
• Digital Modes: < 80W

Exceeding these power limits may cause damage to the antenna or transceiver.

4.2. Tuning and SWR

The antenna is designed to provide low SWR across its operating bands. Minor adjustments to the length of the radiating wire may be necessary for optimal SWR on specific frequencies. The wire includes a strain relief mechanism to facilitate these adjustments.

5. Maintenance

The antenna is constructed with durable materials for longevity. To ensure continued performance:

• Regularly inspect the radiating wire for any signs of wear or damage.
• Ensure all connections, especially the SO-239 and radiating wire attachment, are secure and free from corrosion.
• The unun case is weatherproof; however, avoid prolonged exposure to extreme weather conditions when possible.

6. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your antenna, consider the following:

• High SWR: Check all connections for tightness. Ensure the radiating wire is fully extended and clear of obstructions. Adjust the length of the radiating wire slightly to find a better match. Consider adding a counterpoise wire if not already in use.
• Poor Reception/Transmission: Verify all cables are connected correctly. Check the power settings on your transceiver. Ensure the antenna is deployed at an adequate height and clear of nearby structures that could interfere with its performance.
• Water Ingress: Ensure the unun is not hung at an angle greater than 20 degrees from the vertical to prevent water from entering the connector.
