1. Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:

  • Read all instructions before operating the coffee maker.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs, or coffee maker in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to 'off', then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycle.
  • The carafe is designed for use with this appliance only. It must never be used on a range top.
  • Do not place a hot carafe on a wet or cold surface.
  • Do not use a cracked carafe or a carafe having a loose or weakened handle.
  • Do not clean carafe with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive materials.

3. Setup and First Use

3.1 Unpacking

  • Carefully remove all packaging materials from the coffee maker.
  • Ensure all components listed in Section 2 are present and undamaged.

3.2 Initial Cleaning

Before first use, clean all removable parts and run a brewing cycle with water only.

  1. Wash the glass carafe, lid, and reusable coffee filter in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  2. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth.
  3. Fill the water reservoir with clean water up to the 12-cup mark.
  4. Place the empty reusable filter (or a paper filter) into the filter basket and close the lid.
  5. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  6. Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet.
  7. Press the ON/OFF button to start a brewing cycle with water only.
  8. Once the cycle is complete, discard the water and rinse the carafe. Your coffee maker is now ready for use.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Brewing Coffee

  1. Open the lid and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water to the desired level, indicated by the cup markings. Do not exceed the 12-cup maximum.
  2. Place the reusable coffee filter into the filter basket. If using a paper filter, ensure it is properly seated.
  3. Add the desired amount of ground coffee to the filter. A general guideline is one tablespoon of ground coffee per cup, but adjust to your preference.
  4. Close the lid securely.
  5. Place the empty glass carafe onto the warming plate.
  6. Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet. The digital display will show '12:00'.
  7. Press the ON/OFF button to begin brewing. The indicator light will illuminate.
  8. The coffee maker features a Pause & Serve function, allowing you to temporarily remove the carafe during brewing to pour a cup. Replace the carafe within 20 seconds to prevent overflow.
  9. Once brewing is complete, the coffee maker will automatically switch to the 'keep warm' mode. The warming plate will keep the coffee hot for a period before the Auto Shut-Off feature activates.

4.2 Setting the Clock

  1. Plug in the coffee maker. The display will flash '12:00'.
  2. Press the HR button to set the hour. Press and hold to advance quickly. Note the AM/PM indicator.
  3. Press the MIN button to set the minutes. Press and hold to advance quickly.
  4. Once the correct time is displayed, the clock is set automatically after a few seconds of inactivity.

4.3 Using the Programmable Timer (Auto Brew)

You can program the coffee maker to start brewing at a specific time up to 24 hours in advance.

  1. First, ensure the current time is set correctly (refer to Section 4.2).
  2. Prepare the coffee maker for brewing as described in steps 1-5 of Section 4.1.
  3. Press the PROG button. The display will show 'PROG' and flash '12:00'.
  4. Press the HR and MIN buttons to set the desired auto-brew time.
  5. Once the desired time is set, press the PROG button again to confirm. The 'PROG' indicator light will illuminate.
  6. The coffee maker will now automatically start brewing at the programmed time.

4.4 1-4 Cup Setting

For brewing smaller quantities (1-4 cups), use the 1-4 CUP setting to optimize flavor extraction.

  1. Prepare the coffee maker for brewing as described in steps 1-5 of Section 4.1, using water and coffee grounds appropriate for 1-4 cups.
  2. Press the 1-4 CUP button. The indicator light for this setting will illuminate.
  3. Press the ON/OFF button to begin brewing. The brewing cycle will be adjusted for smaller volumes.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

5.1 Daily Cleaning

  1. Always unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Remove the glass carafe, lid, and reusable coffee filter. Wash these parts in warm, soapy water or place them on the top rack of your dishwasher.
  3. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker, including the warming plate, with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  4. Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling or storing.

5.2 Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal)

Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance. Descale every 2-3 months, or more frequently in hard water areas.

  1. Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of white vinegar and cold water (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
  2. Place the empty reusable filter (or a paper filter) into the filter basket and close the lid.
  3. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  4. Press the ON/OFF button to start a brewing cycle.
  5. After about 5 minutes, press the ON/OFF button to turn off the coffee maker and let it soak for at least 15 minutes.
  6. Press the ON/OFF button again to complete the brewing cycle.
  7. Discard the vinegar solution from the carafe and rinse thoroughly.
  8. Run 2-3 full brewing cycles with clean, cold water only to flush out any remaining vinegar taste.

6. Troubleshooting
