4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Brewing Coffee
- Ensure the coffee maker is unplugged.
- Open the top lid and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water to your desired level, using the visible water level indicator as a guide. Do not exceed the maximum 12-cup mark.
- Swing out the filter holder. Place the permanent filter into the filter holder.
- Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the permanent filter. A general guideline is one tablespoon of ground coffee per cup, but adjust to your taste.
- Swing the filter holder back into place and close the top lid securely.
- Place the empty glass carafe onto the warming plate. Ensure it is properly seated.
- Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet.
- Press the power switch. The indicator light will illuminate, and the brewing process will begin.
- The anti-drip function allows you to temporarily remove the carafe during brewing to pour a cup. However, do not remove the carafe for more than 30 seconds to prevent overflow.
- Once brewing is complete, the coffee maker will automatically switch to the warming plate function to keep your coffee hot. The indicator light will remain on.
- For best taste, consume coffee shortly after brewing. Unplug the coffee maker when not in use or when the warming plate is no longer needed.
5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.
5.1 Daily Cleaning
- Always unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Remove the glass carafe, permanent filter, and filter holder.
- Discard used coffee grounds from the permanent filter.
- Wash the carafe, permanent filter, and filter holder in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. These parts are generally top-rack dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended for longevity.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Do not immerse the main unit, power cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
5.2 Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal)
Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance. Descale your coffee maker every 2-4 weeks, depending on water hardness.
- Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water). For example, 4 cups of vinegar and 8 cups of water for a 12-cup machine.
- Place the permanent filter (without coffee grounds) and filter holder into position. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
- Plug in the coffee maker and press the power switch to start a brewing cycle.
- Allow half of the solution to brew through, then turn off the coffee maker and let it soak for at least 15 minutes.
- Turn the coffee maker back on and allow the remaining solution to brew through.
- Discard the vinegar solution from the carafe.
- Run 2-3 full brewing cycles with clean, fresh water only to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste or smell.
